- Wedding: December 2013
Hello bees –
I just need to vent, and have a drink!
My mom has been helping me plan our wedding, which was supposed to be 12/28/13 because we are getting married in our home town and Fiance and I live around 5 hours away. My mom is basically the “local contact”.
She happen to call our venue yesterday to ask if they have gluten free options as we found out a family member was recently diagnosed with celiac disease. The event planner told her she didn’t have us down for that date. My mom had all her notes and told the woman who she spoke to and the date that her credit card was charged for the deposit.
The event planner looked into the matter a bit more and discovered that our wedding was double booked for the same day! This venue is an estate and only has one wedding a day. My mom explained that we were told there was a cancellation so we grabbed the date.
It turns out that the woman my mom had been dealing with was a summer intern, that the event planner is now discovering double booked several events! She was extremely apologetic to my mom and the only thing she had available was Friday 12/27 (which we didn’t want to do because of family traveling) or a couple of dates in January. We did not want to push the wedding out too far because FI’s brother is getting married next June and his best friend is getting married in July.
My wonderful mom started calling every venue she knew of to find something for us. I’m a teacher and couldn’t take time away to do that so I really appreciated her help! She found a place for us that sounds even better than the first (she’s been there and says it’s great) but that means we have to up our date by 3 weeks to 12/7/13!
I know 3 weeks is not a big deal, but our invitations aren’t printed yet and now I/my mom have to make a ton of calls to make sure my dress is in earlier, etc.
Sorry – this is just a vent! I’m relieved it looks like it’s going to work out but have you ever heard of anything so crazy?
