I know it is the holidays – but I am going to vent and then be happy.
What a frustrating day! Just a simple vent – don’t both reading – just happy to get it off my chest.
Let me start by saying I work at a country club as a marketing director. I went to college for 4 years and am now $20,000.00 in debt.
Of course, country clubs are struggling with the rest of the local businesses and many people are being laid off.
I am still full time with full benefits. Someone (a busser) recently mentioned that the cookies she had made were for the people who did not receive benefits or bonus’s. Of course, this was just a snotty petty comment directed towards me and the other full time employees or managers. But what I really wanted to say was, “I went to college. I paid for it all by myself. I have worked two jobs since I was 16. I have a car. I have a house payment. I have an IRA. I have insurance. I have a million other things to pay for too. I worked VERY hard to receive benefits and a good paying job. In fact, I am now paying 200 dollars a month in student loan payments for my benefits. YOU on the other hand – settled to be a busser and you are still a busser at the age of 40. If you are happy with that position then stop being rude to me for having a better job than you! If you are unhappy with that then GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND TAKE OUT A LOAN JUST LIKE I DID.”
They were also all complaining about how they didnt get a christmas bonus. How it was bulls*it and how the managers probably all took it for themselves. Again – I went to college for 4 years and worked my as* off to deserve bonuses. I also work 70 hour weeks in the summer and do not get paid ANYMORE than I would for a 40 hour week. I also rarely get days off in the Summer. If anyone deserves a freaking bonus – I would certainly be one of them. But instead of taking a bonus – my co-managers and I decided to opt out of our bonus’s to add more to the hourly employee’s bonuses. So the $1,000 dollars I could have put towards my wedding, or towards my next house payment – I am just going to go ahead and GIVE it to the people who don’t appreciate anything and talk sh*t about me behind my back.
People just dont get it. So many others are out of a job. They are complaining about a bonus. A bonus is an extra added surprise — not something you should assume you get! Why not be happy you have a steady income and you werent one of the people we laid off?!
