If you're open to an outside venue, the Cross is beautiful and you could order platters from Albertosons?
Thanks. The Cross is gorgeous, but I live right by there and it can get very chilly and windy. Maybe we could do the ceremony there and head somewhere else for the reception. I'm really hoping to find a restaurant or bar that can take like 150 people.
If you are willing to move cities, my venue is in Camarillo, we are having it at Mc Cormick Home Ranch, and they allow outside catering. We are planning on having Wood Ranch cater, and their catering starts at $9 a person!
The Arnaz Program Center allows outside catering. I've never seen it in person and there is not much info online, but I did contact them when I was trying to find a venue. They provided a lot of information and they were the only place I found that allowed outside food. It's part of the girl scouts camp area, just thought I'd throw that out there! Here are some sites on it and the contact info.
Just wanted to update everyone. We ended up going with Ventura City Hall's Atrium room, which is gorgeous, affordable, holds up to 200 if it is not seated, and allows outside caterers!
I also found a few restaurants I will post that could handle the size we requested and provided bids for everything all inclusive:
Zoey's Cafe
Candlelight Bar
WaterMark (they have a new venue that can hold that number opening in the old Gardner building--bet it will be gorgeous!)
My Florist
I also looked at the Wedgewood all inclusive facilities. It was a good deal, but not the right location for us.

Pierpont doesnt allow outside food or drinks (thats our venue).

Hi bees,
Anyone have any luck securing either a restaurant that can hold 180, or a venue that allows outside catering in the city of Ventura? I'm trying to do a super budget wedding (think Thursday cake and champagne reception, or cheese and wine appetizer type event) for 180 people.
I thought I found a venue, but they only allow their in-house caterer and it would be like $1800 for cheese platters with the extra costs. RIDICULOUS! Do you know what kind of cheese I could buy with that? Lol.
I really want to get married in my hometown, but it is looking like I am going to have to move cities at this rate.
