@ifwinterends:   How about Lambertville Station, in Lambertville, NJ – it’s a big barn type building overlooking the river.  On Friday evenings in the summer there are fireworks over the river.  I don’t know what the cost per person would be, but one could easily find out.  A friend of mine had her wedding there and she loved the place and the food.

I’ll second lambertville station. I went as a guest at a wedding there and it was awesome. But it might be pricey. We paid $149 for a room there as the wedding guests. I doubt its in the $70pp range.

@ifwinterends:  What about renting a vacation house? That’s what I’m doing. I actually found mine through a local realty company, but I found lots of other options that I looked at on You’ll find many options that allow weddings. (I live in Alabama and I had around 20 houses to choose from that were in my price range and allowed weddings…in your area you’ll surely find many more) You’d be able to bring your own alcohol and could either cater yourself or hire a catering company (or cater from a local restaurant or something.) We rented for two nights…the night before the wedding and the night of. This is allowing us to set everything up on Friday afternoon and hold the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner that night. Then my bridesmaids and I are staying in the house that night. Then that gives FI and I a place to stay the night of the wedding before leaving for the honeymoon the next morning.
