- Wedding: September 2011
I’m torn between two places for having the wedding.. Which given I’m planning on a September wedding isn’t a good thing.. I’m really set on having a wedding that is not in the same state that I live in.. No real reason other than I just really do not want to have a big wedding & there is nothing here that just jumps out at me. With that being said when we first got engaged I was in love with the idea of Forsyth Park in Savannah, GA
But they have absolutely no dates in September which means for a fall wedding I’d have to push it forward to August (which would still be way too hot & humid) or back to October. I know this sounds silly to most women but the only real request the fiance has made is that he doesn’t have to miss any of his big “UT football games” which is every stinking week in October.. I could bump the date up to May but that just seems way too soon.. With it being 9 1/2 hrs away from us it limits me on the dates because of kids being in school and plus the travel time.. If I did it in April or May I could plan it around spring break or the end of the school year..
I’ve also looked at The Chimney’s at Big Canoe which is only 2 1/2 hours away from where we live.. This is definitely tied with my first choice, but a Friday or Sunday wedding is our only real option because its $1000 less. It would still be in September like I want but then I am having to make sure to do the wedding early enough that the people that can’t stay til Monday can still make it back home early enough Sunday night..
So based on all that what does everyone think is the better idea? I really want to hurry up & get the deposit paid.. The wonderful lady at Big Canoe is actually “holding” our date for us until someone else wants it & then is giving me two days to decide or not.. I think Forsyth Park will end up being cheaper on the ceremony end but again more people will have to pay for hotels, etc there.. But the reception will cost a lot more.. Where as Big Canoe has everything there & my aunt who has a gorgeous home has voluntered to let us use her house & grounds for a “reception” if we do a mini one at Big Canoe & do a bigger one afterwards.
