- Wedding: October 2011
This is my first post on this board…I’m planning a wedding for sometime in Sept-Oct of next year and having some trouble deciding on a venue (ceremony and reception will both take place here). I’m down to two – Artesano Gallery in Manayunk and Salem Creekside Inn in Bensalem.
Artesano is just a really neat place, and I love the outdoor courtyard, plus the caterer is reasonable enough to outweigh the site fee. I love that Salem Creekside Inn is right on Neshaminy Creek, with a 17th century house as the B&B, and a catering facility that is being built next door. It is also reasonably priced. Kind of a city vs. country vibe, and I think both could be awesome.
We want people to hang out post-reception, and I think this will be easier at Salem Creekside, since there will be a bar/restaurant attached to the catering facility, plus accomodations on the grounds. Only thing is, the catering facility/restaurant isn’t built just yet. All we’ve seen is one conceptual drawing, which looks great, but it won’t be built until probably November of this year. There is cancellation wording in the contract with a refund, but I’m afraid it will be pretty late by the time we’d pull out if that was necessary.
Both are unique, both are convenient (we’re in Port Richmond, and people will mostly be coming from S. Jersey, Fishtown, Center City and the NE suburbs). I know a little about each caterer – Culinary Design Associates for Artesano and Due Amici Catering for Salem Creekside.
Any insight on these venues/caterers/whether I’m nuts to book a venue that hasn’t been built yet would be much appreciated! Hopefully I’ll be able to help in turn 🙂
