I am having such a hard time making a decision on our reception venue, and I need to make a decision soon. Venues here book up 2 years in advance so I am hoping to make a decision ASAP. My issue is I am not 100% in love with any of my options but for a variety of different reasons. Also, everyone seems to have an opinion about the choice, not all are constructive opinions either. Here are my two options I have narrowed it down to:
Venue 1: Other side of town from most guests, classy and elegant looking, food is great (I have attended events there before), by my estimates $3000 – $4000 more expensive then venue 2.
Venue 2: Close to where everyone lives, not as classy looking but can be dressed up, food will be good but not AMAZING, cheaper drinks (cash bars are the norm here), I used to bartend here during university and the manager is a family member which will probably be to my advantage, my parents are pushing for me to go with this one but future SIL said my wedding would be “white trash” if I had it here. Gotta love the opinions!
I like both venues, I am not in LOVE with either of them. But theres not many options here for a wedding over 150 people, I have looked high and low. I feel like there are so many factors at play. When I think about my wedding the most important thing to me is my guests having fun and their experience! I feel like with a cheaper venue I could do more of the extras (midnight snack, cookie bar etc) with the extra cash. On the other side I am afraid by not having the fancy venue people expect me to have that I will regret it or people will think I am being cheap.
Based on what info I have given what venue would you choose?
What was the most important factor to you in choosing a venue? Any regrets on your choice or things you’d change?
