I helped a friend of mine dress up the arch at her wedding venue.
We used a simple fake floral garland for the top portion and then purchased 6 bunches of amaranthus for $3.50 a piece at a local flower market to drape down the sides.
It was pretty in expensive, and I think it looked nice.
What about hanging the strands of flowers...so you have the thin wires with flowers hanging. You can alternate where they hang from and since they are strung, you can maybe do it by the petals and not the flower heads, maybe with some crystals.
I'd do a floral aisle too just for a pop of color.
What if you made the tissue paper flowers Pengy (I think) made? You could pin those/wire those together or to tulle, organza or something else pretty and with a floaty, airy feel!
You could try making some magnolia garland if you have access to magnolia trees, and insert a few flowers with it... that would be cool.
I agree with the fake flowers. Up on the arches you won't be able to tell! I'd also keep an eye out for post-christmas flowers. Sometimes they have ivy and other decorations for super cheap that could be incorporated. I'll try and dig up some pictures of options I've seen/worked with for you...
I personally am a fan of the Christmas lights and branches look ala "The Proposal". I LOVE the part of the movie where they're starting the ceremony in the barn and she walks through arches. Branches could be really inexpensive. You could use some one you find in your backyard or buy some at Hobby Lobby if you needed too. They are always having sales. And then get some Christmas lights dirt cheap. Good luck. Beautiful venue by the way. Totally jealous.

We are getting married on a huge gorgeous estate next to a pond. Some years ago the owners installed some iron arches with the intent to grow climbing roses on them, but the roses didn't take too well. In the summer when we get married, it will look a little better as the beds beneath the arches will have flowers in them. I think the arches might still need something though. I definitely can't afford to deck them out in flowers. Anybody have any other ideas?
(oh, and I have to walk down the middle of it, the ceremony will be on the grass just beyond the arches)
