    Hey all,

My fiance and I have a fabulous reception venue in a giant a-frame cabin in the state park where we're getting married. From the outside it's gorgeous, and it has a beautiful deck. Inside is a central fireplace and a great high ceiling. Unfortunately, it's a little difficult to arrange as far as designating the dance floor vs. the seating area. Also, the furniture is hideously ugly and much to heavy to remove (plus, where would we put it?) Looking for suggestions ...

We're having a casual cocktail/appetizer type reception. Our plan is to have heavy hors d'oeuvres finger food so that not everyone needs a table. There will be some small tables sprinkled throughout but also the lounge style furniture and some seating on the deck. The area immediately inside the door is the only hard floor suitable for dancing. We have a live band, so we definitely want dancing!

Sorry this is complicated. Anyway, check out the photos and give me your ideas about how to deal with the furniture and where to put the band/cake/etc.

    Thanks in advance!

    Wow what a spot,

If the furniture is ugley simpley buy a load of white /cream sheets as throws and then just leave it where it is, plus gets rid of the problem of people spilling there food on things if they are not sitting down, and your flowers should then look even more spectaculer in fornt of the light backgrownd (though i do see a problem with this idea in that you might fade into the furniture in your dress so perhaps some other colour would be better).

As for designating the dance floor, just leave a big open space, Well away fom the buffy table, and I am sure your guests can sort it out.

Why is it so hard to attach photos on these things? Anyway...

Sorry, ladies, I have a totally ridiculously not professional at all photo editing program that will not let me resize these darn things - hence they are too big to load! Not sure why the first two loaded ... BLAH! Still working on it.

We have the same issue sort of - having wedding at a state park lodge.  We decided to put the band out on a patio and have dancing in the grass (think Mrs. Cherry pie's wedding).

did you have pictures of said furniture?  perhaps we can offer better insight if we see what we are working with...but I agree that covering the furniture in a decorative fashion could be the way to go

Cool venue! I would have the dancing outside on the deck. It would be cooler out there anyway. Use chair covers on the blue chairs & use throws maybe even topped with the organza (try ebay or tableclothsfactory.com). If yu are going more casual. I have seen tables & furniture coverd with denim & then red bandana on top & it was darling (see gbslinens.com)
