I’m having trouble finding a wedding venue in the Madison, WI area. We are expecting 250-300 guests. We have looked at Monona Terrace, Lake Windsor Golf Club, Blackhawk Country Club, Paradise Park, and Aldo Leopold Nature Center (Monona). The nature was our favorite, but way too small! The others were all nice, but really expensive and not as unique as I was hoping for. Does anyone have any ideas?

Downtown hotels, Far West side hotels
Fitchburg public buildings (not sure about these)
It is hard to get something very unique for that large of a group.

Inn on the Park is the only place we looked at that I think would accommodate your numbers. It was nice, but I guess not all that unique seeing as you’d have to use the ballroom. It was beautiful though expensive, but if you do an off day like Friday or Sunday I think they offered a 50% discount.
We are at Olbrich Gardens and their max is 120 people. Just FYI.
I have heard good things about the Madison Masonic Center too, and they can accommodate up to 650!
Devil’s Head Resort , can also fit up to 600. Has more of a unique and outdoorsy feel to it.
Orchard Ridge Farms – just across the border in IL, but it looks stunning!!!
Orchard Ridge Farms.

Having just been to Monona Terrace for a wedding, I can say it was a very impressive venue. It doesn’t have the nature that you mentioned, but it is right on the lake, which is pretty.
I think a lot of people have their ceremony or cocktails on the rooftop, and them move inside to a ballroom for the reception/dinner.
I don’t know the other places. But I have been to many wedding venues for work, and can say from experience that Monona Terrace is pretty exceptional.

We wanted unique and romantic as well but we couldn’t really find anything within Madison. There are some charming places in the surrounding areas (Spring Green for instance.) How far are you willing to drive? (And hello from another Madison bride!)
