What kind of a venue do you have in mind?  How many guests are you having?  I got married in South Bend, and visited quite a few sites there.  We had our reception at the Beiger Mansion Inn, a restored Victorian mansion in Mishawaka (but it only fits about 100 guests).  We also looked at Palais Royale, which is a beautiful old dance hall, and a few of the hotel ballrooms and country clubs.  I know they do outdoor ceremonies at the Studebaker mansion museum.  For a more “fun” reception, the Studebaker Museum also has a reception space inside the part of the museum where all of the old cars are.  Another option that would be a bit closer to you is the Spohn Ballroom in Goshen; I’ve seen some really pretty weddings online there.

One thing I found helped me when picking a location was looking at different photographers’ blogs and websites in the area.

The Lahr Atrium in Lafayette is gorgeous, but yeah, it depends on what you’re looking for. Your specifics will greatly change your options for a fitting venue. Booking ours was quite a relief, good luck!

@missysb: Have you found something yet? I live in SB and literally visited every venue within 45 minutes… so if you have a good idea of the type of venue you are looking for and the size of the reception, I would be more than happy to give you some suggestions.
