Winfrey Point in Dallas is pretty cool. Its on White Rock Lake. I am pretty sure they are BYOB and dont have restirctions on who you use for catering. You could always have family or friends take care of the food prep for you. I think they have a full kitchen too? http://www.dallasparks.org/reservations/reservations.aspx
I second Winfrey Point; I've been to several receptions there and I think it's pretty reasonably priced.
I made a couple of suggestions on this thread: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/budget-reception-and-wedding-dfw
First of all that is very sweet of you to think of your brides wedding dreams. Do you have a family friend that has a nice backyard. That would be free! You could rent chairs for a resonable price. Check with high end apartment complexes, they usually have nice big "common area" room that they rent out.
To save on the cake use a local baker (check on Craigs list) instead of a bakery. Also have her make a small wedding cake and also a sheet cake. The cake gets taken to the back to be cut and no one will notice that its the sheet cake not the decorated wedding cake. Stephanie does great work cakelady@tx.rr.com
for inexpensive photography try looking on Craigs list for photographers that are trying to break in to the business, they are usually less expensive.
Hope this helps. good luck.

I'm the groom to be. I'm on here trying to figure something out for my fiancee. I'm leaving February 6th for the US Navy. I'll be going to basic training.
My fiancee first stated she would be happy with JOP and then when we started talking about it she mentioned she would love for her son and nieces and nephews and best friends to be involved. Which lead me to noticed, that maybe JOP wasn't going to work for her. She still states it would but idk. I really don't want to take anything away from her and she is gorgeous and the idea of her in a wedding dress walking towards me melts my heart so its something I don't want to miss out on either.
So here is my question: We don't have a ton of money. Very little. I was seeing if anyone knew of a nice venue in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for a wedding in January. I don't know if anyone knows of a nice area to do it for free or anything like that. I mean, I'm joining the Navy and I'm flat out broke. I was just coming on here to see if anyone had any ideas.
I wish I wasn't leaving until after Spring because I know it'd be easier to have in the Spring outside but oh well.
Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.
