I am just recently engaged and am having a hard time deciding to select a venue that comes with catering, linens, etc. or to select a venue without everything and get it myself. Any thoughts or experience with this kind of thing? I am from Ventura County and my choices so far for venues have been Maravilla Gardens, Hartley Botanical Gardens or the Camarillo Ranch House. We really want an outdoor ceremony and reception. Any other Venue options are greatly appreciated! Max occupants would be around 140. Thanks!

We did everything a la carte for our wedding, and it was a huge inconvenience.

I had this dilemma as well. We opted for a venue where we an choose our own stuff because we are actually coming out cheaper negotiating our own contract with our caterer and other vendors.

I am also a Ventura Co bride 🙂 all 3 venues are gorgeous. Hartleys Botanica is sooo pretty, a friend of mine had her wedding there. If I’m not mistaken I believe the Camarillo Ranch house is the only place that doesn’t do inside catering, tables etc. You’ll have to bring everythig in from outside vendors. Good luck! We booked our venue tonight! We went with The Vineyards in Simi!
Check out Eden’s Garden in Moorpark, they provide pretty much everything. It’s a gorgeous outdoor venue we went to visit, but we decided not to do an outdoor wedding… Its beautiful and the layout is amazing!

I’d receommend the Bard Mansion. It’s very similar to the Camarillo Ranch House but they do everything as opposed to the Ranch House where you have to do everything yourself. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where my friend did everything herself and it was extremely difficult. I would NEVER want that for any bride. Bard Mansion is also far less expensive that the other places you mentioned if budget is an issue for you. Otherwise I would go with Hartley.
