- Wedding: October 2014
Bees! I’m having a problem I NEVER thought I’d have…
I can’t decide between two venues for the reception!
We are having a small (40 person) wedding on the beach outside of Tampa, Florida next October. The ceremony will be around 11am, reception to start around 12:30 or 1pm depending on travel and all that. I originally wanted to just take a room in a restaurant after the wedding for the “reception” slash brunch deal.
Then along came Shepard’s: http://www.shephards.com/social-events/index.cfm (we would be in the “Dolphin Room”) We like it a lot, it would be nice and easy because they handle everything (don’t have to rent linens or bring our own alcohol, etc) and they’re willing to throw in some things like a night on site the night before for me and my bridesmaids, complimentary admission to their bars/clubs for after (we were planning to afterparty anyway), etc. Love it! Downside: more formal feel, no windows (boo).
Thought we were set, got the ball rolling on creating menus and all that jazz, then BOOM.
Along comes Seabreeze Island Grill: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Seabreeze-Island-Grill-and-Raw-Bar/195525933854595 (their website is awful so FB is better!)
Seabreeze would be MUCH MUCH cheaper, walking distance to our beach house (so that entirely cuts our transportation budget!), and that VIEW!!
Bees, what would you do?
No deposits have been put down, no commitments have been made.
Do we go with the original vision and feel of a beach bar/restaurant or go ahead and go with the more formal, traditional “wedding like” reception spot?
EDIT: Seabreeze can 100% for sure be a backup ceremony site (something that’s in our contract with our planner) and Shepard’s probably could be, but it would depend on what all rooms are rented for that day.
