So possibly the worst thing that could happen to me has…my reception venue has cancelled on me.
Worst. thing. ever.
It’s a really weird story but net net, the Thompson Hotel is shopping out their bar/restaurant. I can sign my contract and go on my way and hope that 1. they don’t sell before my wedding and/or 2. if they do sell, the new owners honor my contract.
So I’m on to plan B (back up location) so if any of you Bees have a suggestion for venues in NYC (that wont break the bank!) please send my way!!

That’ll depend on what your budget is and your vision, and your expected guest number. There are so many places and so many angles to go with this. You can rent a loft or other space and get your own catering. Go the public park route and then dinner at a restaurant, or just rent out a restaurant.
More details are needed to help.

The same thing happened to me with my original venue- yikes! Don’t panic… I am getting married in the Catskills and was able to move to a different venue that we LOVE, so it all worked out. Look into all your options and see what you can come up with. I live in Brooklyn, but am getting married upstate so haven’t done much research here. If you are interested in the Catskills I know of some reasonably priced places.
