    Hello,

    I am planning a wedding for 2011. Orginally, I was looking towards spring but cannot find a venue =(.  I would like to have an outdoor wedding - garden, rustic or beach. Our budget is VERY tight. We are not looking for anything fancy, with the bells and whistles. We just want something simple with a lovely setting. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? I have been looking for a couple months and I am starting to get a little stressed...

    I went to a wedding a couple of weeks ago in Dublin @ the Shannon Event Center...it has a nice outdoor setting, and a nice indoor reception area.  I'm not sure of the price but I know the bride & groom were on a tight budget too.  Good luck!

    I'd look at local city parks.  Some have picnic areas that you can reserve at reasonable prices.  Best wishes.

    Check out Here Comes the Guide.com  It is very helpful.  I looked at tons of places in the Bay Area and it was very informational.

    I'm in the Bay Area and I have family in Sacramento (I was born there). And I've seen some really beautiful places, but how "low" is your budget??

    How about going a little west of Sac...to Napa or Sonoma area and try a venue in the winecountry or winery?

    @sudslover:

    Thank you for that idea! I actually never really thought about a city park. I will have to check around and see what I can find ^_^

    @dearmissie: the budget is 5k for everything. Music will be ipod and I may be able to borrow a dress. So that really leaves 5k for venue, food and photography. I am hoping with an outdoor area I wont have to use a lot of flowers, etc.

    Both the Capital Park Rose Garden and the McKinley Park Rose Garden are lovely locations. Rotary Park in Winters is pretty, too - and it's only $50 to reserve the gazebo! Napa and Sonoma might be a little steep if your budget is 5k.

    There are also a couple of lovely options at UC Davis Arboretum. I'm not sure about pricing, alcohol, etc - but they are really nice. http://arboretum.ucdavis.edu/gardens.aspx

    I'm going to a wedding here in a few weeks - looks lovely: http://www.vizcayapavilion.com/weddings/ It looks like a bit much per person for dinner, but if I'm reading correctly, they don't charge a corkage fee which could save a lot of money. Their sister property is this http://sterlinghotelsacramento.com/sacramento/wedding/overview-2 which could be pretty as well and might work for a smaller group.

    This is near McKinley park and could be a good location for a reception after a McKinley park ceremony: http://www.sacramentoturnverein.com/hall_rental/ It seems affordable and has parking!!

    Also, the Eastern Star Temple at 27th and K in Sacramento is gorgeous - it has a really lovely ballroom on the 3rd floor. I know they rent it out for events, but I'm not sure of the cost. Also, it doesn't have air conditioning, so I wouldn't recommend it for summer. Might work in spring or fall, though.

    There's also a small club on 24th Street near J - can't remember the name - but I went to a concert there. Anyway, they had just opened and were hoping to use it as an event/art space. It has way more of an urban vibe, so that might not be your cup of tea, but I thought it could work really well for a smaller wedding. It had some modern art, brick walls, etc - very loft-like.

    Good luck!

    Check out Fortino Winery. Beautiful setting. My pics are on beautifulimagesbyeric.com. Our was 10,000 but it could have easily been cheaper with less people, less alcohol, less fancy appetizers, etc. And we had 170 people. Depends on how many people you have. If you want to do really cheap, rent a hall, check out Freedom Hall in Santa Clara, Wedgewood, or hire a taco man at any big hall that lets you do whatever. I think that's the cheapest option.

    My fiancee and I found this website called where-i-do.com, they do backyard weddings. We are actually going to be married at Stone Ranch in Lodi. Kassidy, the person who organizes everything is super nice and very helpful. You basically rent out the estate, but have to provide everything else.
