Wow! You're definitely on a time-crunch here, but don't be discouraged! The best advice I can offer is to continue making all of those calls to the venues, so you can start building your venue rank list. The more you call/visit, the more choices you'll have.
The cheapest venues I've seen were through churches. The only thing is that most of them won't allow dancing or alcohol, which right there will save you loads of $ (no need for a dj or alcohol). You can use an ipod/laptop for music and rent speakers/borrow them from a friend. Then the next biggest thing will be food. If your financial situation allows, you can hire a caterer & use their dishes/silverware & food... or just have them do food and buy the dishes, cups, silverware yourself. The more calls you make and information you collect, the better off you'll be because that way.. you'll see where you can/can't cut corners and save.
I wish you luck! Keep us posted on how you're doing! Either way, having a wedding there or going away, you guys have to know that in either case, it'll be a HAPPY & WONDERFUL event! You can't lose in either case & there isn't a wrong choice! You guys are truly lucky to have found eachother!~ :) Congrats!!!~
Cut your guest list first. 250 people is WAY too many if you are having to do it on your own and want it to be extra nice. Where have you looked? What is your budget?
We have looked all over. I am not sure I can not look anywhere else. we are trying to keep it around 4000 if we can. The only thing we have found that may even work it the harn homestead in OKC. But then I think it is in May I am not sure that it would work due to bugs and the heat. The other place I have found are wanting cost to 6000 to just hold the recpection there.
I got married at Oklahoma State Capitol - if your date is available that location is free. You will have to rent chairs, tables and such from them. You are allowed to bring in your own catering, no alchohol though. Its super pretty. We had our ceremony there, but our reception was at a different location. We rented 100 chairs from them @ 2$ a piece - it was very affordable!
check your local parks;) that is where we are having our ceremony:) very small fee. what you would have to pay for is the chairs to seat everyone... that is where i'm struggling right now, I will need about 100 chairs.
definitely try and cut your guest list if you can.

we are trying to cut our list but we both have big families and we are trying to at least have all of our famlies there. I have checked a few places to have it outside but I am not sure.
I have checked chairs and I checked at Bill Veaseys Party store and they have several diiferent chair styles to choose from. I think they had white chairs and they were like 75 cents a piece.
Not sure if you're still looking for a venue...are you absolutely set on 5-12? Because I have called off my 5-19 wedding. It was going to be at Central Community Center in Tulsa. The rates are really reasonable, they have a WONDERFUL outdoor park area, and they let you bring in your own catering and alcohol. If you're interested, I could let you know when I make it in to cancel the date, so you could call in right afterward and get first dibs...
Call the sandplum, they have ways of working with your budget!

I am getting Married 05-12-12 and we still do not know where we are getting married. We are going back in forth about having a wedding or going away. I am not having any luck finding anywhere for around 250 people that does not cost alot. Any Ideas?????? We are paying for this allon our own and trying to stay as low as possible without it looking trashy.
Thanks a Ton-
