So we have an appointment to visit my dream venue this weekend and I am so excited!! I have a ton of questions to ask and if all goes well I want to book a date that day. I am just curious if anyone knows what the typical percentage is for down payments on venues? I know that it varies from place to place. I would ask the coordinator via email prior to the appt, but I do not want to seem too anxious because I would like to see if they will be open to negotiating price while we are there.
The venue for ceremony and reception are about $5,000.
Any advice would be helpful! 🙂

We put 10% down and then made another 10% payment maybe a month later? I can’t say that’s typical necessarily, just what we experienced. 🙂

It totally depends on the venue. We had to put 1/3 down upfront. The remainder was paid at 60 days out (another 1/3) and then 14 days out (the remaining 1/3). We have a few friends and family members who recently married. They only had to put $500 down on their respected venues.

We put $1000 down. $2500 is due in April, another $2500 is due in July, then the balance three weeks before the wedding.

We put 1/3 down on ours, then the remainder is due the day before the event.

Our total for food, rental, and drinks was $8000 we only had to put $500 down 🙂

In my city, most venues we’ve look at had a $1000 deposit requirement to book the event. (Except for one place which was $500.)
