So….my reception venue isa great deal. $980 for 10 hours, which includes tables and chairs. Its so budget friendly we cn’t pass it up BUT we can’t bring in any chairs. That sucks not only because maroon is no where in my color scheme but also because I found wooden folding chairs for $.50 each (yep, 2 for $1, lol)…
This is the lobby/entry table
And this is my table mock up. Yellow paper flowers and there will be baby’s breath in some. Diff vases per table. Love birds to be added…maybe a tray/platter but you get the idea
How the hell am I gonna addmaroon tothe mix?!

Can you do chair covers with the money you aren’t spending on the wooden folding chairs?

You could just get chair covers for the chairs at the venue… it would probably be around the same price as bringing in outside chairs and would work with your color scheme. I would do white chair covers.

There lies the problem. Chair covers start at $1.99, even at the company renting the folding chairs for $0.50!

Did you know about the chair rule before you signed the contract, or is it in the contract?

No one cares about what the chair looks like or if it matches your colour scheme. Not worth spending money on new chairs (even if you could bring them) or chair covers.

Not worried about the contract,my deposit is refundable. It would be STUPID to not sign it and reserve the date with the rental price being what it is. I can bring my own food and liquor…nowhere I’ve looked at allows this and looks like this place.

@MrsKady: No one besides the bride cares about the chairs. If you really don’t want the maroon in your pics, you can have someone move them away from the table before the photographer takes a pic.
The minute the guests sit down, you won’t even see the chairs. The guys will take off their jackets and hang them on the back of the chairs. The women will cover it with a sweater, wrap, shawl or jacket and hang their purse from the chair.
Do you sew?? You could make these little mini slipcovers for just the back of the chair. You can make them any shape you need in the fabric of your choice.
You could also take a wider sash and tie it so that the majoiry of the chair was covered.

I would purchase the chair covers, and then resell them on ebay or a yard sale or something.
My chair covers cost me $2.19 each, but you can get them cheaper than that [mine were universal because i wasn’t sure what kind of chairs i was getting].

If it’s an evening reception, just have low light and colored light washes. No one will know the chairs are maroon!

Its true… nobody cares about chairs other than the bride. I was so hung up about my venue’s chairs the night before my wedding; I had originally seen it with these older wooden ones & when I went to see it again they had changed the look. I WAS MORTIFIED – I wanted to get covers but there was no time.
Seriously though, it looked fine. Chairs are chairs… when the place is full you can barely see them & nobody will notice:

@MrsKady: if you have time look into covers and resell them after. Get them from a bride. I’ve seen covers here and various other sites, including FB. Above all, don’t stress. Your wedding is about celebrating your love.

@LibrarianTellsAll: Colored light washes? Like uplighting?
@MrsRugbee: It does look good!
@vegasgrrl: I know, but I don’t even have the budget to buy them. I was getting 100 chairs for $50 bucks! I guess I can wait until closer to the day if nothing else works out and I’m desperate. And thanks, the day isaout us and not the chairs!!
