Hi scola28,
I was the DOC for a small wedding that was held at a vacation rental in Malibu. The house has 3 bedrooms and a full kitchen. It's got a beautifully landscaped backyard for a reception, and a winding path down to a private beach.
You can see pictures on my blog here:

Here's the contact info for the house:
Best of luck in your planning!
I hear you! Ugh - it was the worst part. We ended up finding a church we loved - First Congregational Church of Los Angeles - and just decided to have both the reception and ceremony there. Cheaper and easier. But - if you don't want to have it at a church, (this one's breathtaking though!!!) ... Greystone Mansion is relatively reasonable because it's a public park. I went not long ago and was trying not have regrets for not having my wedding there! Also, Stuart Hall at Temescal Park is quite nice and inexpensive! Good luck and let us know where you pan out!
One correction -- it's Stewart Hall. Spelled it wrong. Here's a link. http://www.herecomestheguide.com/location/detail/temescal-gateway-park/

Hello everyone! I'm new to the board and have been scouting it out just for some helpful advice about searching for a wedding location. It's been so rough for us! My fiancee and I got engaged last Novermber. We were so excited just to be in love and getting married..... then we started looking at places.
Our idea is to get married on the beach or in some type of beach setting. Then having an intimate reception for around 60 people. Our budget is about 10-12K not including the honeymoon. Now I have to say this: I don't care about flowers, I could do minimal or DIY, my friend is doing our invitations, my mom is buying my wedding dress (even then I don't really care to spend too much on that either) but we do want to make sure we get a good photographer to capture the day, also I think I can possibly get my cousin to DJ our wedding. With that said..... any ideas or recommendations?
These are the places I've looked at and wasn't fully sold on:
Colette's Oceana, Los Verdes Country Club, Balboa Inn, Casa Del Camino
We are going to look into the following this weekend:
Long Beach Museum of art, Malibu beach club, pacific edge
I have an extensive list of places and quotes that I have in a neat spreadsheet and so many were just too expensive. If you all have any insight or have been to any of these places, please feel free to share, I'd appreciate it so much!Attachments
