It will be a lot easier to find a venue if you are more flexible with your date, especially since June is one of the most popular months to get married.

I think so many book in advanced because they want a specific date, at least that’s why I booked so far in advanced I will also be getting married June 2018 and me and my FI signed the contract for our venue in December but before I signed there was so many places that had already had prospective clients in June since that is a very popular wedding month

mengerie :  As a wedding vendor, I can tell you that May/June & September/October are the busiest “prime” wedding months. They usually book *at least* 12 months out, so it’s not surprising that June 2018 is already booked. Just remember, if you’re booking 14 months in advance it’s safe to assume others are as well. 😉

You just need to be diligent in your search, and ready to finalize and sign a contract as soon as you’ve found one you like. The biggest mistake I see couples make is that they wait too long to make a decision, and when they finally do they often find their date has now been booked by someone else.

For example, I will have couples inquire about photography and then takes weeks to make a decision only to be upset when that date is booked by the time they get back to me. I make every effort to contact people when someone has inquired about a date they were interested in…..but I get so many inquiries for so many dates that it’s almost impossible to keep up with every single person who showed interest (and I know it’s worse for venues!).

I’m sorry, but 14 months in advance is nothing. There are people that book 2+ years out for their date. 10 venues isn’t that much either, with the internet these days I probably emailed/looked at a couple dozen venues and only toured 2 once I narrowed down what I wanted. I think you will be much less likely to have a Bridezilla moment if you lighten up and are a bit more flexible.

Think you’re stressed now? Wait and see what some of the other bees on this site get stressed about. Good luck!

We booked our venue 14 months in advance because we ran into the same problem. A lot of the places we wanted to look at were already booked ENTIRELY through the next year. (Granted, I do live in a big city so I can understand it more.)

Once we found a venue we loved, we went to put down a deposit and another couple had already put their name down to book it. The venue reached out to them and they were not willing to commit yet, so in the end, we got the venue we wanted, but again, almost missed out!

Take a deep breath! You will find something lovely!

Unfortunately, this is pretty normal. Venues, photo and video book up very early. At 15 months out I definitely ran into vendors that were booked, especially if they were really good.  My wedding planner said that she has seen a huge surge in Friday and Sunday weddings because places book up so quickly and folks don’t want to be engaged for two years.

Would you consider getting married on an off day (Friday, Sunday)? Getting married in a suburb instead of city center?

mengerie :  Luckily we picked a location that would have the ceremony & the reception in one place.

I didn’t want to stress about going from one place to another.

mengerie :  Depends where you live! June wedding in Texas isn’t super desirable :). Sept-Nov are great though!
