- Wedding: October 2013
So, Fiance and I FIANLLY decided on a location, and we decided on Vegas. YAY! We’re looking at a fall/winter wedding. Sometime in October – December.
Now the hard part is picking a venue from here. We are going to Vegas in February on a fact-finding mission, and Father-In-Law lives down there for half of the year so we can always send him to scope things out. I have a few questions though, that hopefully you Bees can help me with. 🙂 FI’s family is paying for most of the wedding. There are a few things that we will be paying for ourselves (like my dress), but regarding the budget they’ve essentially told us to “not worry about it”. (We’d still like to keep it reasonable though; under $20.000)
1. I would love to utilize a wedding planner but I have NO idea what one would cost. As in, not even vaguely. I know they’ll vary in price but I just don’t know what the scope of their fees will be (Hundreds? Thousands?)
2. We are VERY interested in getting married in Red Rock Canyon, but I cannot find very much useful information on it outside of packages and helicopter weddings.
3. Can anyone recommend some other non-traditional venues? I really want kind of a rustic charm or outdoorsy feel (hence the Red Rock), but that doesn’t seem to be something that the hotels and resorts really do, lol. FI would love to get married on a golf course. I do not! (But would be okay for reception, I suppose).
4. Any other tips or advice for a Vegas wedding or a destination wedding would be greatly appreciated! We’ve both been to Vegas before more than once; pretty much all of FI’s aunts and uncles have property in Vegas. I have a feeling the next few trips down there will be a bit different though!
ETA: I should add that the current guest list is about 110 with just close friends and immediate family (including cousin’s kids). FI’s family is all thrilled with the idea of an excuse to go to Vegas, and my mom’s side don’t seem to be too upset with it either, so I figure we’ll have about 2/3rds RSVP Yes.
