I’m not sure where you are in Mass. but our wedding reception was at the Barn at Gibbett Hill in Groton, MA.  It’s a beautiful barn on a farm property.  Also, they started out as a restaurant and then added the event space so their food is AMAZING. We had 142 people at our wedding and we fit perfectly.  It’s a little on the pricey side but totally worth it.  The service is amazing and you will be the only wedding going on.  We are a heterosexual couple but I’ve seen photographer blog posts of same sex weddings that have taken place there so I know you would be more than welcome.  And the staff is awesome!

I would look into the different venues you can rent. The Peabody Essex Museum is gorgeous. There’s the Crane Estate in Beverly (I think it’s in Beverly). I’ve also heard great things about the Barn at Gibbet Hill as @Moose1209: mentioned. It really depends what kind of venue you are looking for.

For the most part, I find MA to be a very opened-minded state. Gay marraige has been legal here for several years and I think most people here don’t even think about it anymore. I think you will find that most people will be warm and attentive to your needs. There are many, many beautiful venues in MA and if someone treats you and your partner with the slightest bit of disrespect you can tell them to shove it and move on to the next.

Congratulations and happy planning!

I would post the same question on the local board under MA. PM me if you have any specific questions. I’ve done a lot of research on venues and would be more than happy to share what I have found ๐Ÿ™‚
