Tomorrow the Fiance and I are officially beginning the search for a venue! We know the area that we want and the feel that we want, now we just have to find the perfect (affordable) place! I thought it would be a piece of cake, but now I’m really scared we won’t find a place that isn’t booked for the weekend we want :(. We really want the second weekend in Nov, but the problem is that we decided on taking the plunge in 2012 not 2013 (<-the original plan). I am super stoked about FINALLY being his wife but now I realize our wedding date is 10.11.12. Here’s hoping we can find a place SOON!

- Wedding: June 2012 - Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards
Some might be booked because of the date. I think you have to ask yourself if you’d move the date for a venue you fell in love with or if you are commited to that date and don’t want to work with any venue that’s already booked on it.
Most will give you a package or folder with basic info. Ask if they will also share a real final bill from a wedding that was around the size that yours will be. One venue did this for me and I noticed that they did not include staffing in the fees that were originally quoted.
The first visit doesn’t have to be the only visit. Make your visits and discuss how you felt over them. Then go back and see the ones you liked best again.

We are getting married 10.21.12 and still did not find a place. My state is very pricey. I say go with an open mind and do not be afraid to negotiate. Good luck!
