Hi there! My partner and I are hoping to get married in October 2015, close to Durham (or up to an hour away, but preferably closer!). We’ll have around 150 to 175 guests, and are looking for a venue where we can have both the ceremony and the reception. I’d like to have an outdoor ceremony. We’re planning a Saturday wedding with dinner, drinks, and dancing. I’d like a place where we can BYOB and choose our own caterer. Any ideas? Our budget is very tight (I know it’s hard with that many people!), so the lower cost, the better. Thank you so much for your help!

It’s going to be tough to find a place that fits all the requirements. Off the top of my head, I actually can’t think of anything that’s going to be a perfect fit!
If you can reduce your guest count to about 125, Snipes Farm in Chapel Hill will work. Get it down further, and you can use Haywood Hall in Raleigh.
If you can deal with having a ceremony indoors, Big Barn Convention Center in Hillsborough will work.
If you can deal with having separate settings, the Raleigh Rose Garden is beautiful for ceremonies. Follow it up with a reception at the science or history museums downtown (although you’ll be limited with catering on those).
You might also look at Rigmor House in Chapel Hill.
The limiting factor here is cost. Finding a place that does outdoor ceremony, indoor reception, and has room for 175 means that you’re probably paying a lot more than $3000 (especially on a Saturday in October, which is about the most popular time of year to get married in North Carolina).
