    Dear Wedding bees,

My fiance and I decided not to make a big deal about the wedding and plan it for this summer either June or August.  We live in Brooklyn, New York and just trying to find a pretty place on a lake some where outside New York city but not too far away.  We just want to rent a house or bed and breakfast and have a tent set up on a lake.

Its been very hard to search for something like this.
    please help!

It could be Hudson Valley, NJ, PA.  We don't care as long as its pretty and has a lake.  We want to have a day before wedding barbeque and swimming :)

It seemed like a simple idea but very hard to execute.

Oh, try Sparta, NJ. There's a beautiful lake and catering hall. http://www.eventective.com/USA/New+Jersey/Sparta/108040/Lake-Mohawk-Country-Club.html

There's also Lake MOHONK in upstate NY near New Paltz. I visited this place for my MOH's wedding. It was a bit pricey and way out of the way but an amazing venue and your geusts can stay there.

Ok, try looking up lakes in NJ. Also the sandy hook beach area is relatively inexpensive (if you dont mind the beach) and i think you can have a small party there if you get a permit...i'll keep thinking...have you tried the knot.com, there is a certain area where you find original locations. Let me think, there is a small place in rye, ny that is located on a lake...it starts w/ a W...hmmm cant think of it...look up near those areas. There are so many options do a google search.
