IT’S MY DRESSSSS!!! Gahhh! I love it so much!!
I knew I wanted a fit and flare or mermaid. I’m hour glassy so something with a fitted bodice was going to be best for me. I was torn between classic and more modern. I loved the romance of rossets with unfinished edges, but also worried about looking back at my wedding day thinking “what was I thinking with that giant flowery skirt?”
The first time I went shopping I went to two salons. Davids Bridal in the morning, and a small higher end boutique in the afternoon. I came in with a budget of 1500, and at DB the sky was the limit. At the other salon I was shown a lot of VERY simple dresses that were “in my budget.” They were pretty, but the limitations bummed me out a little. I ended the day thinking that VW351166 might be my dress, and felt like it was very pretty.
This friday, I was visiting central Jersey where all of my friends and family live, and decided to check out the DB in that area. I thought MAYBE they’d have some sale styles the other location didn’t. When I inquired about it, they couldn’t find VW351118 off the bat. I actually said “it’s not on my MUST TRY list, so if you can’t find it it’s fine.” The manager insisted it was around somewhere and went to go look herself. She came back with it in my size.
I tried on ten dresses durring my appointment, my dress being the seventh I tried. After I tried it I immediately put back on the VW351166 from my first appt, and I was SO OVER it. Still pretty, but I just didn’t care anymore. Two more, and they didn’t hold a candle. I narrowed it down to two, the VW351118 and one from earlier in the day that my sister had loved. When I did the “final showdown” my sister, mother, and a bridesmaid that had come along all agreed.. I lit up in the VW351118. I asked “which do you guys think?” and my bridesmaid immediately said “It doesn’t matter what any of us think anymore, because that’s clearly your dress. It’s all over your face, and that’s all that matters. It’s perfect.” The other one was gorgeous, but it wasn’t even a contest. I’m not an overly emotional person usually, but I was shaking. I never expected to have that “when you know, you know” moment.
It has the romance of rosettes, but more suble than a full rosette skirt. It has classic lines. The perfect mix of the two styles I gravitate toward. I was obsessed. I AM obsessed. It is TOTALLY my dress.. And it coming in at a third of my budget is just icing on the cake. I would have bought the dress at full price without batting an eye. Love love love LOVE.
