@jubis2505: I had always thought the one on the model in that picture was the blush sequins, as the bottom of the gown does look like blush pink in some sections, whereas other pictures I've seen, the gown looks completely ivory.

It could just be the lighting though...

Also, in the previous threads, other Bees have also said the blush is really subtle. So subtle that you can hardly tell it's blush rather than ivory...?

Did anyone else order the blush gown and can confirm?

I saw the runway version in person and it's definitely blush. As @VeraGirl mentioned, it's really really subtle. :) I went with blush myself.

@techie:  @Vera Girl: I only took a pic of it when I was at the store and it came out dark and blurry, so it looked liked the blush was darker than that of the runway. Thank you ladies!

    Hello Ladies,
I am brand new to the Weddingbee scene, I have been eyeing the Gemma for some time, and stumbled across this blog! I am heading down to Toronto to try on sizes, I have tried to measure myself but I feel as though they are not as accurate as they should be :)
I am 5'3'' and think I would be between a 0/2/4. Would any of you lovely ladies be that size and willing to sell your dress?
    Thanks !!

    Another Gemma wedding: http://dwaynewatkins.com/blog/?p=1664

I think the dress looks so soft and beautiful in these pics! I am such a geek, but I get so excited every time I find more pics of the dress!

I love this gown. I am travelling to NYC (from Australia) and really want to try it on but am already having issues choosing a dress.

Can I ask - how much is the Gemma in the usa?

vera Wan gis only stocked at one place in all of Australia and they jack up the prices like crazy.

    Help!

@engagedjrb:  I'm also from Australia, and ordered my Gemma from the NY boutique via phone and email!

The Gemma with beading with $6500USD and without is $5500, I believe? With the conversion (and our strong dollar at the moment) it will probably work out being around $6200 for me.

Hey fellow Gemma brides! I have a question , do you notice on some Gemma Brides the bodice lays flat and others it's bumpy. It was bumpy on me when i tried it on bc I had clamps closing it tighter. I assume once it's fitted it would not do that. It was perfectly flat on the Gotham bride but not on others. Hmmmmmm

@AutumnLove:  I think once it's altered to you it will be perfectly flat. Plus, when you are leaning over, etc. it will look bumpy just because of the shape. It will be gorgeous regardless.

Am anxiously awaiting "the call". Should be arriving in about two weeks. Ahhhh.

    @mjm2012:  Yay!

@AutumnLove:  Like mjm said, I think if it's altered properly, it shouldn't be a problem.

My fitting is in a couple weeks. Eeeek!

@AutumnLove:  I totally agree - this is something I have been worrying a bit about lately. In some pics of brides in the Gemma, the dress looks so well fitted, with the rouching lying flat and I love the dress. In others, it seems really bumpy  and the rouching is extremely pronounced, and I don't like that as much. Hopefully when it comes time for my fitting, they will be able to make sure my bodice lies flat. For anyone having a fitting sometime soon, please let us know how it goes!

Also - is anyone else planning to get a more definted sweetheart neckline??

@PeachBee:  Right?? its totally been stressing me out and like what the other bees have said that its most likley the ways its tailored. As for the neckline I am also doing a sweetheart, I wish we can see a picture of someone who already did it!

I hadn't noticed the bumpy vs smooth issue. Does anyone have an example they could show me?

Now I'm paranoid, as I won't be getting mine altered at VW!

Vera girl....do you know the photo of Gotham bride? Thats smooth very smooth against her body. Then the bride Peachbee just posted seems a little lumpy. Honestly don't go crazy I went to fashion school in NYC o my eye is too critical for my own good!

@AutumnLove:  Haha, that is so funny because I actually thought the most recent link I posted looked fairly smooth in comparison to some other brides I have seen. I guess we all see things through different lenses!

I am hesitant to say which brides I have thought looked less smooth, in case any of those previous gemma brides check out this site - I don't want to offend anyone. But I will say that I find it happens a lot; it seems that about half the time the brides' dresses look fairly smooth and, other times, the rouching is more pronounced. Oh well. Hopefully if we communicate our concerns to our alterationists well enough, they will make the dress perfect for how we want it.

Oh, I think I see what you mean by bumps against the bodice.

Honestly, I'm not too concerned about it as I think the fabric is very forgiving since there is rouching in the tulle against the bodice anyway. Thankfully it's not the same fabric as the Ethel!

I get my dress in about a week! I'm trying to work out how I'm going to get it home from America to Australia. I'm putting aside a whole suitcase for it.

I'm still undecided about shoes. Next to picking a dress, this is my hardest decision.

I just saw the bumpy bodice, and added the issue to my "alterations checklist". Will definitely bring it up at the fittings.

@Vera Girl:  I cannot for the life of me find THE shoe. It's proving to be harder than the dress. VW asks that you take your shoes for the fittings, but I won't have them, since I'll arrive in NY the night before the first appointment. Hopefully I'll have them by the 2nd fitting.

    Hello ladies

I'm flying from Australia to the States in a couple of days and want to find my wedding shoes while I'm there.

Where are some good places you would suggest I look in LA and Las Vegas? I'm leaning towards something like Louboutin or Miu Miu. Would departments stores be the best place, aside from the Louboutin and Miu Miu Miu boutiques themselves?

Would they be slightly cheaper in Vegas than LA or does it not make much of a difference?

    Thank you!

@Vera Girl:  The only thing I can think of that would make a difference is sales tax. And the CL boutique can find another size at another boutique if they don't have it available. I bought mine in NYC but they were sent from Vegas. :) They waived the sales tax somehow for ordering them out of state and having them shipped even though we have a boutique here, so that might be an option.

Thanks for all your advice about the shoes, ladies!

@val19flynn:  I ordered my gown in Dec, but asked if I could have it in March as that's when I would be in the States.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting in touch with my consultant to pay my remaining balance though. They don't want my money! lol

And I had been thinking of getting those exact same shoes! Great minds ;)

@val19flynn:  Your shoes are beautiful!!! I wish they'd come in 3" heels, hehe, I'm too tall and my fiance is too short for those.

@Vera Girl: Are you trying to contact the person who sold you the dress or the alterations dept? I closed my balance directly with the alterations stylist.

Hey all!  Are there any petite brides wearing the Gemma (under 5'3)?  If so, can you show me pics? I'm really considering getting the Gemma but because the sample was so big and long on me, I wanted to see it on a real bride that's short just like me so I so I can get an idea of where the skirt will hit and how it looks and if it would even look good! I'm 5'1 and wear a label size 2.  Thanks!!!

    Hi everyone,

I am new to all this but I have recently purchased my Vera Wang Gemma dress from the London Vera Wang store.  I am having the dress fitted there too as I live in the UK.  I am size 4 and 5'3 but I am wearing 5 inch heels.  The dress has blush blizzard beading and sash.  I also have a full length veil.  It is stunning.  Would be prepared to sell.  My wedding is in June 2012, message me if you are interested. xx
