Cesar and I finally booked our honeymoon (deposit is sent, it’s official). We are staying at Verana, an unbelievably beautiful and unique resort in Yelapa, Mexico. To get there, we fly to Puerto Vallarta, take a cab ride to a boat, take a boat ride to a couple of donkeys, and take the donkeys ot the resort. We’re staying in our own private bungalow in the jungle – with no walls!
In planning our honeymoon we had few requirements: we wanted to stay on the Western side of the world, so we wouldn’t lose too much time in travel, and we wanted to go somewhere warm. We were originally thinking Maccu Piccu, but I talked to a freind that lived there, and she recommended going later in life when we have more time.
I discovered Verana months ago online, it was actually the first place we REALLY wanted to go for our honeymoon. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was, not just the scenery, but the houses, the food, the spa etc. It seems like the perfect place for us, there is hiking, beaches and privacy (we even have our own pool in the bungalow). I am a little nervous about the lack of walls (scorpions, snakes, killer monkeys), but we decided we would tuck our mosquito nets in tight – something Cesar grew up having to do everynight in the Dominican Republic, and enjoy this paradise.
