I just started my third year of law school, and FI proposed like two weeks ago. We're not getting married until 2012 because of me having to take the bar next summer. I can't deal with a wedding and the bar at the same time. Career wise, we should get married immediately after I take the bar, but that's too much stress for me. Best of luck!
@buttontoes: Thank you ...you tooo!! Please don't even mention the bar I have to get through lsats first I take them in Oct.
@button, seriously a good decision to wait until 2012 instead of trying to deal with planning and the bar! I had REALLY wanted to get married right after the bar (I just took it this summer), but we didn't get engaged until March and I just could not even deal with trying to throw something together. We completely postponed planning until now and we'll have a little over a year to get it together. It's not ideal to me to take time off for a wedding in my first year at work, but trust me--it would have been completely impossible to try to plan while studying for the bar. The bar consumes you! Enjoy 3L and good luck next summer :)

So thanks to happy hour yesterday I now know depending on a minor something I could be engaged as early as December and the worst case scenario is by next summer, which is just fine :-)
