Hi, bees.  It's two weeks until our wedding - YEA!  OK, so here's what's going on.

Last Saturday, I received an email from the wedding coordinator at our venue saying that she was quitting her job, that it was her last day, and to please sign and return the catering order for our wedding by today, the 21st.  She also included contact information for the director of sales at our venue.

I immediately emailed the contact person, explaining the situation, and asking a couple of specific questions (the first being whether we could alter the catering order because the numbers were wrong, the second being how we could add items like premium bar onto our order to bring our numbers closer in line with our minimum, since with our current guest numbers, we were $600 under our contracted minimum order for food & drink.)  She emailed and said that she would take a look at our contract when she got back in the office on Tuesday and email me back.  We also set up a meeting for next Sunday the 29th (which is a week before the wedding) with the new catering manager, who would be starting the next day - the Monday before the wedding.

Radio silence - I never heard back from her after that.  I called and left a voicemail on Thursday.  I emailed the signed catering order yesterday, noting that I had changed the numbers but not the total dollar amount because we still needed to speak about the order.  No return email, no call.

At this point, I'm pissed.  Our wedding is in two weeks, and I am starting to have little faith that something's not going to go really wrong because of this change in personnel at the venue.  Of course we're keeping our meeting for Sunday the 29th, but what would you do in the meantime?

Call again, once a day. Someone should be picking up the phone!

LOL, yes - someone should.  I guess I'll just have to call the front desk and ask for people, because this woman doesn't seem to be capable of returning calls/emails.

Call and ask to speak with her. If that isn't possible or she isn't available, then I'd go to the venue and talk with her or the manager. You are paying big money and deserve to have your questions answered!

Oh, I would definitely go to the venue - if it weren't an hour and a half away!  :-)

I say go straight to the manager. 2 weeks isn't alot of time, especially because you have some pretty big questions left unanswered! I wouldn't leave this to chance at all and might even say it's the one time you can be justified in being a little bit overaggressive.

While it might be a pain to have to drive to your venue, it might be worth it just to get everything straightened out.  It is easy to blow off a voicemail...not so much the case with a real person.  That time is worth knowing that everything is order so you have one less thing to worry about before your wedding. I am sure everything will work out perfect. :)

    Pray! Wink

I was going to say go there in person 'til I saw how far it is from you...but actually, that situation  might make me mad/scared enough to drive over there anyway!

@Honeybun - yep, it's in Winchester and we're in Arlington.  It's not a bad drive if there's no traffic, but I really do have a lot of work to do tomorrow and early this week, so right now I'm not seeing how it's feasible... and then it's Thanksgiving!

LOL, I know, it's a straight shot up 81 for you!  :-)  The venue itself (the George Washington Hotel) is gorgeous, but I'm starting to seriously question their staff's capabilities.

Honestly with two weeks left, I'd suggest finding another number at the venue (reception maybe?) and get a person on the phone.

But knowing me, I'd make the drive down :)

I agree with the other bees that you should just call anyone at the venue (maybe the manager) in order to get things set so that you won't feel so nervous.  You have enough to be nervous about coming up and you shouldn't have to worry that there won't be food for your guests!
