I had a meeting this morning at the TX workforce. They were educating and signing some of us about the TAA program. Basically, they will pay for you to go to school as long as you finish within 2 1/2 yrs. I am going for my bachelors in Elementary Educataion and I currently have 19 semester hours. I think I can push and get my associates degree by the end of next year. 4 classes for Spring and Fall, 3 classes for each summer session– this is what I have to do either way because I have to be a full time student at all times and that will put me at 61 hours at least.
However, can I really finish and get to a bachelor’s degree in a year and half? Even if I pushed, I think I still will have another semester to complete. They said you CAN’T just use up the 2 1/2 yrs and switch to financial aid or anything else available out there to finish your degree. You have to run everything by them (TX workforce career coaches) first before they approve you to do anything. I have wanted to be a 1st grade teacher for such a long time and I’m not willing to give up on my dream (I’ve done it before, I’m not doing it again). Any advice?
