My wedding venue changed from a rose garden to a Historic old Church building ( not a church anymore-they hold concerts, receptions, etc there now) in downtown Wilmington,NC. We are getting married outside in the courtyard (Brooklyn Arts Center- for those curious). We are still sticking with our Victorian vintage romantic whimsical feel. Colors are rose, gold and ivory.
So I went to a bridal salon and tried on a dress that I love! It’s beautiful and I feel stunning in it, i loved the way it flowed and I felt like a queen. However, it is at the top of our budget and actually will be over with alterations ($3k). I looked at the price before I tried on the dress and I think the realistic person in me said “you can not fall in love with this dress it is way too expensive” so I felt like I couldn’t get attached like I wanted. By The Way the sash in the picture would come in a rose color 🙂 and the bottom of the dress has a soft blush tone to it, goes in with our colors and romantic feel.
I went to try on a dress (Alfred Angelo Modern vintage) I had tried previously and still very much loved the dress. It is more economical too ($1599). But i feel like it could no longer compare to the other dress.
I tried to find a cheaper alternative to the $3k+ dress but nothing compared. what do I trust, my gut and our budget or the feeling i have about the dress i want?
Sorry about the sideways pics i tried to fix them but uploading from an ipad 🙁 and price includes cost of alterations

Definitely the top dress. No question.

I really like the Martina Liana…maybe you could find a similar Maggie Sottero version of this dress (that will be less expensive!)..honestly, I am sure you can…just keep looking!

I really like the top dress! It reminds me of my dress and it was only $1000. The sash is removable and you could replace it will a similar sash brown sash. Just a thought.

@Luckyinlove: I Oohed and Aahed over the first one, it’s amazing on you

The top dress without even a question of a doubt! Cut back on another area, get the dress you love or you’ll regret it. Stunning in the first one!

I’m in the minority but I really like the second one!

You have time, if I were you I’d keep looking for something similar to #1 but lower in price. Good luck!

The Martina Liana gown is absolutely breathtaking, no questions asked 🙂 maybe just keep searching for a similar dress in your price range. I personally am not a fan of that Alfred Angelo gown at all, though.

@Pinkmoon: I like the 2nd better too, especially for the theme. That dropped waist on the first one just looks odd to me.

The first one, for sure. The second one does no favors for that great body you have!

Thank you all fellow bees for the comments and suggestions! I am still pining over the first dress. My Future Mother-In-Law and mom have told me how that dress just “is so you”. I think I’m going to see if it gets a bit cheaper soon. Aybody know how long that will be if this is a fall2012 dress?
Also, @violentsky. Funny you mentioned the cinderella. I tried it on too and it was the most comparable to the 1st dress but i reallydisliked the tiers and horsehair tulle at the bottom, it made the dress seem really rigid. If i can afford the 1st and make it work, then i may be taking on some custom work with the AA cinderella.
But i do still have plenty of time to keep looking, which is a very good thing 🙂
