I am a two dress bride officially (since the 2nd dress I ordered came in) and I need help choosing which dress to wear. I like both of the dresses almost equally and am having such a difficult time here. I plan on selling whichever dress I do not wear asap, and also selling the one I do wear after the wedding.
In dress #1 Mori Lee 2512(my original) I like the simplicity of it, with the beautiful beading. I love love love the way it makes my body look and shows my curves. Con is that it is a bit hard to move around in and also sit down for that matter.
Dress#2 Maggie Sottero Charlotte (second dress) I like because it has beautiful lacing, still has somewhat of a mermaid silouhette but is fitted right below my hips rather then mid thigh. It is much more comfortable and easy to move around in. Con, it has quite a big of bling and I am concerned it is almost too much bling.
Our theme is fall (I know, original, w/it being in the fall and all! haha) so all of our colors are rich earth tones: browns, olive greens, champagnes, taupes, ivories etc etc. I do think that both dresses could look beautiful in that color scheme I just need some serious help!
With that being said, which one do you ladies like more and why? Any help would be so GREATLY appreciated! Thank you bees :)
Dress # 1 Mori Lee 2512:

Maggie Sottero Charlotte (Dress #2)
Sorry for the variations of picture quality and sizes, some taken w/my cell phone some w/camera. Thanks again helping this indecisive bride!
They are both beautiful dresses, but I think you look better in the Mori lee.
However I LOVE Charlotte!!! I would have picked her if I didn't already get a dress and had more money to spend.
I think they are both beautiful. But the Maggie looks a lot more comfortable. I love the bottom skirt too. The Mori Lee gives you a great butt though. I think they both have the same amount of sparkle. For a fall themed wedding I would pick the Maggie. Just choose the one that you love the most. One of them has to make you feel better than the other.
We are date twins! I love the first one, I think you look like a knock-out!
Totally the Mori Lee. I really dont care for the lace skirt on the Charlotte, plus the Mori Lee really slims you down. The Charlotte kind of make you look a little wide through the hip area.
Yep, you look thinner in the Mori Lee. It's not that the Charlotte doesn't look nice, it's that the Mori Lee looks amazing. My bridal consultant said that to me - if she'd only seen me in my 2nd choice gown, she'd have said I looked beautiful, but when she'd seen me in my actual gown, it looked sooo much better that the other didn't compare.
Even though I usually prefer lace gowns, I much prefer the fabric and detail on the Mori Lee, and I think it just generally looks like a more unique, stylish and costly gown.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about comfort too much - "we suffer to be beautiful" - as long as you are able to move and sit down (even carefully!) I'd go for the more stylish gown. It's one day, and the only day of your whole life where your outfit will be the centre of everyone's attention! You can have a big soak in the bath the next day!
I love the first one - they both look nice but I think the Mori Lee is more flattering in your hip/thigh region.
Good luck!
I like the Mori Lee dress better. It is very slimming and flattering on you. The Maggie seems to flare out at an awkward place. If the skirt flared a bit lower or higher I think I would like it more.
They DO both look lovely. I like the Maggie better, but you look amazing in both of them. Which one do you FEEL better in?
They are both lovely and yes, the Mori Lee shows off your curves... but the Maggie dress is also gorgeous and there is one BIG difference between the two - never underestimate how much you will appreciate being comfortable on your wedding day! If you have a hard time moving and sitting down in the Mori dress then scrap it. Brides don't just stand there looking good, we walk, dance, sit, eat, etc and if you're struggling to do all that all night long it will definitely hamper your good time. You could probably have some of the bling taken off of the Maggie dress when you order it, ask them to make that change. I love it and think the back is much prettier!
Mori Lee hugs your curves in all the right spots. Make you look taller. The other one sort of cuts you off at the thighs. Stick with your original. It looks great on you.
I'm in the minority here, but I'd go with the Charlotte. I think it will look amazing when altered and you can always have them take off some of the blig. The Mori Lee looks amazing on you as well, but I would be VERY wary of getting a dress that is uncomfortable to sit down in and move around in.
@ nmsoonerbride, I really do like them both. I start leaning towards one, then start liking the other and it goes back and forth, back and forth. I talked to my mom (whom may I add lives out of state) and emailed photos of the dresses with me in it. She loves the maggie so I started leaning towards that one. Then i chat w/my friends and they love the mori lee. I feel like a ping pong ball!
I know ultimately that this decision relies solely on myself. And the dress I choose is to make MYSELF happy and no one else (wait my fiance too). But I am literally split down the middle.
I have my bridal shower next month back home in Maryland and I plan on bringing both dresses with me. Both my mom, her very eccentric sister (my wonderful & fashionable aunt paula) and my other aunt mary to get some honest opinions.
Sweet Jebadiah! I never thought in million years this would be so hard!
dress #1 does appear to make me look taller but I am actually standing on a pedastal plus have on heels. I'm a petite bride @ only 5'3. When I have heels on and stand on the floor theres a lot of dress on the floor... I look a lot taller then I really am in the first two photos
Sigh..to be tall lol
The Maggie looks lovely but is not as flattering around your hips. I vote the Mori Lee all the way.
Charlotte is a beautiful dress, but I think the Mori Lee is more flattering on you (and equally as beautiful)
I like the bottom of dress number 2. I think they are equally flattering- just the way you were standing in number 2 makes it look different- but I think they probably flatter you the same. I like the material in number 2.
I might be a bit blunt here, but looks notwithstanding, why on earth would you want a dress you can't comfortably sit down in?
IMO, wedding day is a long day in most cases, filled with a lot of small stresses, and being uncomfortable in your dress would just make the day very hard.
@ aunt pol. Not blunt at all, this is what I need to hear. I want to be comfortable bottom line. I like to get my groove on just like the next girl.
The first question I ask myself is "okay, which one do I like more?" in my case its both equally. Then from there, I start asking myself more questions.."which one am I more comfortable in (sitting, dancing, moving) in?" With answering that question, its hands down the maggie.
Dont get me wrong here, My body looks GREAT (sorry for my non-humbleness lol) in the first one. I do think however, with the second one altered a bit, and the back laced up tighter, my body still can look good.
humph decisions decisions...You ladies have been great though already! Thank you so much for all of your help.
@Charbirdie - In that case I change my vote. Because all things being equal I think you prefer the Maggie and that's the most important factor of all!
Definitely wear the one that is most comfortable. You don't want to be uncomfortable on your wedding day!!
Usually I go for the lace. I love the lace skirt on the MS dress but don't like the sash that goes around your hips. Which brings me to the question, was your MS dress corseted correctly during this fitting? Eventhough they are both corset dresses, it seems the Mori Lee dress fits you so much better. Maybe it was pulled in more tightly than the MS dress or maybe the sash around your hips on the MS dress is making you look wider at the bottom. I'm sorry to be so blunt but it also could be the angle of the photograph. :(
Anyway, you can never have too much bling on your dress. So that shouldn't even be an issue.
@baldor 1, The lady who laced me up laced me about 3/4 of the way up and also laced every other hole. I definately agree my hips look big in the maggie (unfortunately though I do have some serious child rearin hips! lol. But bc she didnt lace all the way to the bottom, and thats where the problem hip area is, that could be part of the problem? and maybe also only lacing every other?
both are beautiful, and beautiful on you, but the Mori Lee dress gives you awesome curves and is super flattering for you!
Thank you so much bees for you all youve said already! These comments are all things I need to hear
I like the Mori Lee better. The band across your lower hips on the Maggie Sotero cuts your body in a weird way and isn't very flattering.
I like the Maggie Sottero one better. The back is amazing, makes me want to go and try it on! :)
I really like the Mori Lee on you. Is there a way that the seamstress can let out the thigh area a tad so that it is more comfortable for you to walk/sit in? I think it looks wonderful though as is, I was just trying to throw out a suggestion for your comfort issue!
@ FutureMrs.Wood. I suppose a seamstress could do that, thats what they get paid to do right? lol. Or maybe lace it up towards the bottom not so tight? I'm just unsure, because when I do sit, it bends the fabric and then theres a line right across my stomach from when I was sitting...
You look much slimmer and have an awesome figure in the Mori Lee. I vote for the Mori Lee hands down! It's sexy, but not too much so.
The horizontal line across the Charlotte isn't doing you any favors. Wear the Mori Lee!
Go with the Mori Lee. I think the Charlotte has too many different things going on.
The Mori Lee looks stunning on you! It really is a gorgeous dress. Then with your makeup and hair did...wow! :)
I LOVE the details on the bottom of the Maggie but im not the biggest fan of the low sash.
Mori Lee!
You look beautiful in both dresses but you have that extra something in the Mori lee!! = )
So I think I am going leaning towards the Mori Lee. they are both so beautiful but I just have to go with my gut...
I'm a Maggie girl myself but think the Mori Lee is more flattering on you.
The Mori Lee flatters you much more than the Maggie. I'm usually a Maggie fan, I have two maggie dresses myself, but go with Mori. :)
