So we went for our first prenatal appointment today! We were so excited! According to my last period I should be almost 9 weeks along ... Well the ultrasound showed a baby 5 weeks along. The ultrasound tech didn't let up that anything was wrong but I knew immediately. She asked If I was positive about when my last period was and I assured her BC we have been TTC that I have been paying very close attention. Now I do have very irregular periods ever since I got my iud removed.

So once we got into the doctors office my worries were solidified...the doctor is very concerned. Looks 5 weeks and no heart beat... Should be 9 weeks with a strong heart beat. Well there is a glimmer of hope! I took a pregnancy test in the end of Oct that came out negative so (I assumed it was a false negative) now If it wasn't a false negative that means everything is right on track! Now the confusing part is that means I would have had to ovulate 4 almost 5 weeks after my period?? That doesn't make much sense but the doctor said it could happen.

So long story short I got a blood test today to check my hormone levels and then on friday I will get another test and If they go up I am still pregnant!! If they stay the same or lower then well...you know. So basically please everyone cross your fingers for us! We want this baby so bad. Hopefully I have some good news to share on friday!

I hope things work out! I was sure of my dates too, but somehow things got mixed up as I was off by 9 days, despite normal cycles, charting and OPK testing. I know 9 days isn't too big a deal, but it just goes to show you can think things are on track and your body can be doing something totally different!

We're going through the same thing, it's so hard not knowing! I recently had a miscarraige and I'm pregnant again. Last time I miscarried, I had no signs of it, except very light spotting. I went in for my 12 week apt. to hear the heart beat, and there was none plus the baby was the size of a 6 week old. Last night I had some more light spotting, and freaked out all night. I went in this morning and they did an ultrasound, they said it's too early to tell and it looks like a 4 week old (I thought I was 5 1/2 weeks). They said that I probably have my dates wrong and ovulated a week after I thought, which would make sense b/c my body was still off from the miscarriage. I just got back from getting my blood work done so they can see if my hormone levels are ok, and I'm getting an ultrasound next week.

PM me if you need someone to talk to, I'm wishing you a healthy baby!

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. My good friend sort of had a similar thing happen – she went in SURE that based on her last period the baby should be x weeks old (I think 9-10, like you), and the doctor said it looked about 4 weeks less than that. I’m not sure what the cause of the date discrepancy was, but her baby is a super healthy little guy and doing great! Good luck!

It is possible to ovulate late. I seem to ovulate anywhere between CD 19-21 (which would be about 3 weeks after the first day of my period). When my mom got pregnant with me they calculated ovulation at about 4 weeks after her last period. So it is possible. Keeping my fingers crossed for good blood test results!

It's possible your body dropped one period due to changing hormone levels or because it was confused from the IUD removal or because you were stressed about TTC.

I'll pray for you, I hope that it turns out your body just skipped a cycle!

Wishing you the best.  Hopefully your negative test was accurate.  Something a bit similar happened to me, though not quite as much difference in time. But I must have ovulated a bit later than usual because when I had my last period puts me almost 2 weeks ahead of when my baby was dated.  Luckily I didn't go in until the baby had a heartbeat - it was dated at almost 7 weeks and I thought I was at almost 9 weeks - so no one was worried.  But if you really are 5 weeks that's still really early to hear a heartbeat.

    Best of luck to you!

It IS possible if you have irregular periods that you could have ovulated late. I don't think they could see a heartbeat at 5 weeks so I wouldn't stress over that too much - you may be on track and just miscalculated due to wonky ovulation, but it is stressful & nervewracking.

We had exactly the same thing happen to us.  According to my last period I should be due July 4th.. but when they did a sono, they discovered that I was only 4 1/2 weeks pregnant and that I am due July 23rd.  Just means you had a late pregnancy.  My period is also irregular, which is why the dr said it's fine and that I have nothing to worry about.

    Good luck!!

Just waiting for friday...going nuts! Hope this week flys by!
