I was looking for a dress maybe 2-3 months. And I didnt find the dress I LOVE but I like some of them. My Wedding day is September 24, 2010 so I needed to order ASAP a dress I like. It’s Casablanca 1938. On their site the back on the model is way too low
and I decided to raise it 2″. But in the evening I was looking for the pictures of real people in the dress(not a model). And OMG, I found these ones
The back on them is not so low I would rather say it’s the back I want! So now I really worried that if it’s the back is that high to begin with, do I really need to add 2″? If I add 2″. Will it be straight when raising the back 2″ or close to straight?
Maybe someone here tried this dress in their size or had it on their wedding day? What is the real back of this dress?
Thank you very much for your help!

The back will lay differently for each person. Did you have the seamstress measure where you want the back to lay? I am sure it will be fine, but if I were you, I would call and/or email the seamstress to stop the alteration for now. I would then print out the picture you have located and then take it in to get the alterations set the way you want them. Your seamstress should be able to look at the picture to get the back the way you want it.

I am a little confused – have you already ordered the dress and asked for it to be altered, or are you about to order the dress and trying to decide whether or not to alter it? If you haven’t ordered it yet, you could probably order it and wait to make your decision until it comes in and you can see it on yourself.

I already ordered this dress yesterday(( And Casablanca can do all changes you want while doing a dress. So the dress will come to the store already with raised back. And in the store they cant do anything with it then((((

i personally like the back to be low like the stock photo. however, since the back seems pretty low, raise it up by 2″ shouldn’t make the back “straight across”. they’ll probably raise the 2″ from the lowest point and by looking at the stock photo, even after raising 2″, the back should still be “V” shaped.

Have you called the bridal salon? If you only ordered it yesterday, it might not be too late to cancel the higher back. But I would go by how you felt when you tried it on rather than the pictures because it will look different on different bodies. If you thought the back was too low for the sample you tried on, I’d leave it go with the extra inches.

Thank you for your replies. The salon is closed today((( But I sent a email. When I tried the dress it was very-very big on me so I couldnt really know how low will be the back in my size. The girl on the pictures( the second link) has it probably in her size. But the proportion in any size is the same I think((
Did anybody have or tried this dress?

If you just ordered it Saturday, they probably haven’t done a thing with it. Call them first thing Monday morning to get clarification.
