@hazyleyedbeauty:  You could do black, it’s classic. That was pretty normal when I used to be in the tux rental business. It was black, or the wedding colors.

Do the tuxedos have a matching charcoal grey vest? That’s what we’re doing for everyone. FI and I preferred it to the satin color vests. It could be a good option for the other men and then they could do a sapphire tie like the groomsmen or a neutral tie – like just black or grey. I don’t think everyone else has to be perfectly coordinated to the wedding colors IMO. So that’s just my idea. Otherwise, I would probably have everyone else wear the same as the groomsmen if you want them to match more.

Do they have a vest that matches the charcoal grey tux?  I know the vera wang tuxes have matching vests available.  If not, I would do black.  We only having the groomsmen wearing the wedding colors.  Just like the moms don’t want to look like bm, the dad’s shouldn’t look like groomsmen.  We did black and greys for them

To add this is our set up for colors…

Everyone in grey tuxedos with matching grey vests.

  • Groom Ivory Tie with Ivory Paisley Pattern
  • Groomsmen and Ushers Purple Tie to match bridesmaids
  • Dads black ties

This is the groom’s look…everyone else will just have the different tie.

I would match the vest to the tuxedo, but then again I would suggest that for all the men.

Vests that match the BM’s dresses can look a bit  “prom-ish” to me.

I would bring in color if you choose to, with their ties or boutonnieres.

Grey suits (Grey “Tuxedos” included) should have grey vests, generally speaking.  I woouldn’t do black under grey – a darker vest under a lighter jacket really dresses it down.  Rule of thumb is that colours should get darker as the layers move out.
