Hey there Bees!
My SO and I have been planning our wedding for a little while and up until now it’s been really hard to find something that’s very “us” then I stumbled upon this:
I mean, look at that flower girl dress! I can totally imagine a little girl with a basket of flowers walking down the aisle in that! And it’s so US!
The only problem is, finding any other inspiration for this type of a wedding goes way off into left feild. It’s either too stichky or too… pumpkin! I really dislike orange so I do not want to use that as one of my colors.
I was hoping you Bees could help me find something a little darker that is still elegant!

What about a dark purple? I’m doing a masquerade wedding, and that’s one of my colors. Purple and black could be beautiful.

I was thinking about adding a masquerade type of element. My SO and I went on our first vacation in New Orleans and we saw a cute idea about making masks the escort cards/favors. We really fell in love with the city and to be honest, I want to be married in Jackson Square, but that would be too expensive, lol.
A deep purple would be beautiful, I’ll have to look at some photos, thanks!

I like this inspiration board too, the lavender brightens it up just enough, but still has that dark Victorian feel.

I love it…I would maybe look to the movies The Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas for color schemes. He uses a lot of purples, blues, and blacks and swirls. I’m not saying you should use that as your theme (unless you wanted to) but it might be a cool inspiration starting point.

We are pretty much in the same boat for our classy Halloween themed reception this October. Everything we have seen is a little too over the top for our taste and with traditional Autumn colors (Orange and Brown). We don’t want to go full out Halloween party, but we would like to add a touch of Halloween to our reception. Our colors are red, black, and Ivory and we already designed our reception invitations with a calligraphy font on Ivory paper with a red backing and a spider webbing design. I don’t have many ideas as of now, but have you checked the blog Offbeat Bride? They have a lot of different ideas for a non-traditional bride showcased there. I’m also planning to check out bridal magazines and blogs more for Fall October wedding inspiration as it gets closer.

@MissComicBook:check out offbeat bride.com. it’s a great place for the type of inspiration you’re looking for.
Our wedding is kinda-sorta like yours, only not as dark. Don’t get me wrong, I love dark (especially black) but I’m pretty sure our families would flip their lids and disown us if we went THAT dark, lol.
LOVED the tiara on that page, though!!! TO.DIE.FOR!!!!
