What country in Africa are you from? I was in Tanzania for a month in college. Best time of my life. I miss all the colors - we tend to be so drab here.
The headwraps and clothes are amazing!!! How fun...love it all! Congratulations! :)
@Miss Longcoat: The name of the song is 'Bunie ya enu' which means 'Lift Him up' in my language. It's by Psquare.
@eloping: Yeah, I wonder where those snippets are now from the folks who were taping it too? The rocking dude in the front is the MC. He was a character
@mandypop: I'm Nigerian. Eastern part. My DH is from the Western part.
@plantains: My sister, forget!! That money they sprayed us is going to help with our honeymoon thankyouverymuch!
Hmm all those dollar dollar bills made a huge difference oh. Meanwhile my sister, where have you been hiding?
You rock! See serious gbedu!!! Congrats! Mine is in Abuja in 13 days and my DH has been practising his dance steps as he has never been outside Europe.
Happy married life to you and your DH
@bRooklynRocks!!!!!! This was awesome. I can't believe I didn't log on in time to see the wedding photos. It looks like you guys had SOME party. Love it!! Congratulations on your wedding! How does it feel to be a Mrs?
Thank you so much for sharing! I've never seen an African ceremony so this was aweomse! Such a fun celebration!!! I love seeing how other cultures celebrate weddings. :)
I love it!!! Everyone looks like they had a blast. The song is perfect. Just added it to my playlist!
@JamaicaBride: AH!! I didn't know you were back on the boards. Welcome back. I've missed you :)
@9ja4life: Gbedu first class. Na "mo gbo, mo ja" we do but it was fun. Good luck in ABJ and please let us know how it went.
@katsupgirl: Ah Psquare is the truth.
Thanks everyone.
@bRooklynRocks: I got your message and wanted to see how your wedding went. Looks like it was an awesome time. I am going to have to take some time to catch up all of the weddings I had been following to see how everything turned out. I will probably be off and on until I am all caught up.
@bRooklynRocks: How did I miss this?!?
Probably because I was so wrapped up in my wedding that I wasn't on the boards that much. I'm at work now, so I can't see the video but will watch very soon when I get home.
Your girls were seriously picking up that money for you. No dulling! Loved it!
Wow! I AM UBERRRR late!! But I HAD to comment! This was sooo beautiful! I absolutely LOVEEEE our culture! Just so beautiful and full of joy and life! You looked so happy, I love it! Great job to your videographer too!

Oh man, our videographer sent us a link with a video montage of our traditional ceremony. It was such an interesting and joyous day. I wish I could have done this back home in Africa (that would have been soooo much fun) but Houston was good too and my mum got to invite all her friends who couldn't come for both the African and American wedding (which was the next day) Those outfits were hot though (and I mean temperature hot!!) Enjoy...and yes, that is our version of the 'money dance' We call it 'spraying'. I love the song playing. I wish you understood my language. It's such a great song, by Psquare. I'm sure YSLQueeen knows them. Anyhow, here is the video
Ps, still waiting on my disc. I will do a photographic recap with all my details too :)
