(Closed) Videographer sending a replacement?!

I would CALL (not email) him and ask to see samples of the other guy’s work. If this guy runs a production company, that shouldn’t be any problem getting a link for that. And ask if you can talk with the other guy over the phone just to go over the details of the day. Be really nice – catch more flies with honey, and you’re more likely to get more information out of him. 

I’d ask him what the plan for resolution was if I didn’t like his work (refund).

You never know, you might be getting something you bargained for. Don’t freak out until you have the details. If you see his work and don’t like it, then you can decide what to do.

I find it really unprofessional that he sent an email instead of called to deliver news like that, but that is part of dealing with a student.

How much are you paying and what kind of coverage does it include?

@NAvery:  I don’t know, I prefer to get news in an email because then I have evidence of what has been said.

Don’t panic. Has he given you the replacement’s full name?

@SpecialSundae:  That’s true, good point. I usually send an email after a phone conversation to document what I understood to be said. I just think email is too easy to ignore, to go into spam, for someone to not check, etc. It feels like a way of having to deliver bad news where you don’t have to face the consequences.

@NAvery:  I tend to call after the email, but you’re right that there should be a combination of the two.
