I just got a quote from a videographer.,…1800$! So when I got that quote I figured I would get a nice hour long edited video. Here is where the wake up call came. I would get a TEN minute video. Just 10 mins compiled from the footage of the day,
So we have decided to ask for a decent camera for Christmas and get some volunteers to tape the biug stuff and then get an editor to edit it and make it all pretty.
Is this a normal price??

That’s high for a 10 minutes video. Are you sure it’s not a 10-minute highlight video plus the rest of your footage?
Many videographers in our area charged $3500 for the whole package, but we lucked out and found a great vendor for about half that price.

for 2400 I get the whole shebang. Sigh,
Hopefully my family will help me out and remember to video the important stuff!

Mine was $2200 for 10 hours of time. I get a whole footage dvd and a 10 minute highlight reel.
I bet you get the whole footage, just not edited as nice. PS no one is going to watch the whole thing except for you and your FI, most people just like to see the highlights!

That is way too high for a ten minute video. Keep looking and get someting you can afford without sacrificing the quality AND quantity of the video.

I know no one would want to see an hour video except for us but in my mind I am paying soo much and then just getting a 10 minute highlight reel is just to expensive.

It really depends on where you are if that is a high price. As you get closer to the cities, the prices go up. I’m in the suburs of NYC and we have people here that will do a half an hour video for that price, but in NYC that price is about right for a highlight video some go even higher depending on the quality of the work. There’s someone out there who will fall within your budget. Just keep looking.

@linz09: Don’t give up hope! I did some searching and we’re planning to go with Storymix. If you haven’t checked them out they look pretty cool. Rather than hope your friends have a camera they send Flips to you. I saw they now also have tips you can print out to help them get good video.
I was thinking it wouldn’t be worth it when I heard about it, but their videos look really good. Besides, I like the idea of getting all the goofy and funny moments since the cameras will be in the hands of my BMs. I’m such a cornball, I’m sure I’ll say some crazy things I’ll want to capture 🙂
Good luck, there are some other companies too to check out. And if you get the family to pony up for a pro that would be great.
