Right now my hair is a mess… I’m a full time student and it’s summer and it always looks like this by July. It’s barely touching my shoulders and is basically a grown out a-line or slightly inverted bob.
Normally (when I’m keeping up with it!) I wear it in a graduated or a-line bob, like this:
But a bit longer in the front than that.
I really do NOT like my hair long anymore.. did that for decades and found that as I aged and put on some weight it elongated my face in an unflattering way.
So anyway, do y’all think that this type of hairstyle meshes well with a vintage style dress and birdcage veil? Or should I do something else? Since it’s grown out some I have more options when I go back to my stylist. I was thinking I could do a modified pageboy, a softer bob with a few curls… or just go with what I know I like (above) and be done with it..
Thoughts and suggestions appreciated. I wish I could show a pic of my dress but at this point it is still in my head. It will be something like this 50’s tea length dress, in blue jacquard or brocade, but probably longer:

What about a wavy short bob a la Grace Kelly? I think that’d look fabulous with a birdcage and a dress like that!

What about Jackie-O the flip? I like LittleMissMoo’s suggestion too!

Thanks for the responses… my hair naturally has some wave already. I have to flat iron or blow dry it to get it to look like that picture.. so yeah, that might work! I have to do it myself though, so I should start practicing now. No room in the budget I don’t think, for a stylist on the day of the wedding (plus we are marrying in another state and I’d have no clue where to go!)…

hmmmmm, ok so have it trimmed, not as short as it was, just a little shorter than it is now, then practice putting it in curlers.
if your doing it yourself, I’d recommend, wash it, pop in some mousse, and then put in curlers, either let it dry naturally, or blow dry it, then once bone, bone , bone dry, (other whys the weight of the damp hair will pull out the curls.) then take out the curlers, and separate the curls until you like what you have, then coat with hair spray until your hair will hold it’s curls all day long – and well into the night.
bob’s your uncle!!! This may take a little practice – but 4 or 5 saturdays trying this out and you should be perfect!!
