My mom point blank refuses to pay for our adorable skull-themed wedding. =[ I’m super bummed. So, three months out and I have to redesign the whole damn thing. Since we’re doing it in a garden and had already planned to play croquet, we’re changing to a vintage alice in wonderland theme. I absolutely don’t know where to start. Help?
Our colors are heather grey, yellow, and white.

If you have any low trees or something you can hang stuff from, string up individual playing cards at different heights. Scour goodwill for tea sets and different patterned teacups and put flowers in the teapot for centerpieces and candles in the teacups surrounding the centerpieces. Make use of “Eat me” and “Drink Me” signs/cards in your decor. I don’t know if you’re doing a buffet or a bar, but if so that would be a good place for those. Get creative with your table names.
Alice in Wonderland is fun and really easy to do with a little bit of thought and effort. I had a tricked out Alice in Wonderland party in the woods in college and everyone loved it.

I am sad that your mom doesn’t like your theme! Here are a few Alice related things you could possibly use:
Red and white roses (“painting the roses red”) – although I don’t know what your colors are…
Incorporate cards somewhere (like the Queen of Hearts guards) – perhaps as a favor or just scattered around your center pieces/guest book table/cake table? You could also use a deck of cards as your guest book, or as part of it – get each guest to sign a card and then make an album of it.
A “tea party” table or place to get coffee/tea/water…check secondhand stores for old teacups and saucers – you don’t even need to use them for drinks, but they could be part of your decor or centerpieces as well.
Some cool wood signs that are slightly misshapen (think of when she is lost and wandering through the forest) – either to direct people to a certain area or perhaps as table numbers
Hmm…I will try to think of some more, but those are off the top of my head! Good luck 🙂

oriental trading has mini playing cards sets you could use as favors. And it think the perfect and essential idea is to go with tea party, and as Kittyachi said, go to the thrift stores and get unmatching plates, teacups and teapots. It needs to not match. But I think you’ll be golden if you go for that and the playing cards and the croquet.

LOVE THIS IDEA! You’ve already got some really great suggestions! I don’t know if you’re planning on doing a photobooth or anything, but it would be fun to have a bunch of wacky hats for guests (as props, if you are doing a photobooth) a la the “Mad Hatter”.
I definitely think the big thing is amping up the tea party theme, and just go with very whimsical and woodsy decor! I think it will look great!

My sister threw me an AMAZING Alice in Wonderland themed shower. For favors she had white tea cups in which she put tea bags and tied a “drink me” tag to the handle. Next to the cups she tied “eat me” labels on to decorated sugar cookies with our initials that my grandmother had made.
Her centerpieces though were amazing. She found black hats and filled them with florist foam and stuck in photo holders with playing cards that could ‘add up’ to our wedding date (an 8, a king, a queen, and an ace for 8-21). She then stuffed the rest of it with bright colored tissue. For the tables, there were white table clothes and she went to the fabric store and just got strips of various colors, about 12 inches wide and put two different colors on each table with the hat in the middle. They were sooo adorable!
Another idea is if you are going ot have a lot of kids at your garden wedding, hide little stuffed cats around in the trees/bushes for the kids to find the cheshire cat.

tiny bottles of drinks that have “drink me” tags and your favors could be petit fours in boxes that say eat me. also ornate mirrors on your centerpieces could be cool.

Omg so fun! and you got some great suggestions. I love the tea party ideas… well i just love the whole thing! The red and white roses would be great and you could mix in white roses with red tips that look like they are half painted.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! These ideas are amazing! And those inspirations boards look great! Thanks so much, ladies!
I’m a bit fond of the idea of wedding cupcakes instead of cake. I wonder if I could have them either made in or put into mis-matched tea cups and put the tea cups on a cupcake tower…here’s a cupcake in a tea cup:

You need a clock somewhere in there (think: the rabbit and “Im late, I’m late…”)
