iheartdc:  Vintage doesn’t just mean old- it means from a  certain year or era- like a vintage 1998 wine.

I suggest you narrow it down a bit. A wedding with rustic farm antiques is very different from a Great Gatsby wedding, but they would both fall into your definition of vintage/antique.

Sometimes the theme takes shape or becomes more specific by what you are able to find for decor where you live.

crystal decanters are beautiful

Cut-crystal whiskey decanter as vase. I love the idea of repurposing things. I have a beautiful crystal wine decanter that was my husband's great-grandmother's that I can do this with. Great idea!

You can borrow these things from friends and family on both sides.

I used milk glass vases for centerpieces and they looked great. My mom and I collected them when I was a kid from thrift stores like goodwill and salvation army.

I am planning a vintage 20s wedding.  These are the pics I am using with vendors as we discuss and plan.  Pearls, crystal, and brooches.  I’m really using the rhinestone and brooches to create a theme and pull it together.  Brooch bouquet  (which will be diy), brooch on the cake tiers, and ordering a cheap box of a brooch lot to scatter around tables and in the florals.

Planning on getting them from ebay.  You can find them in 25, 50, and 100 piece lots and they come out to less than 2.00 a brooch.  Locally in a craft store they are 10.00-15.00 each.  I don’t think I could find the quantity I need in antique stores or yard sales.  I figure I will select my favorites out of the lots for my cake and bouquet, and scatter the rest down the tables.  The ladies can take one home as a wedding favor!  I plan on getting one 100 piece lot of rhinestone, and another pearl.  That should be more than enough.  Justifying the cost as it will be my bouquet and favors for less than 200.00!

I should add that I’m on a tight budget.  Dress ordered from china, outdoor wedding at a free venue, chef friend making the cake, and neighbor is a photographer, diy bouquet, and diy invitations. So the expense of the brooches seems like alot.  But its one of my only splurges!
