If you're on a budget, call the nearest college and ask to speak with someone in the school of music. They will most likely be very willing to put you in contact with some students who are trying to build their resume/make a little cash.
I wouldn't go for a trio of violins. Maybe two violins and a cello - you will have a nicer, fuller sound for the same price. I have played at lots of weddings and it's nice to have a bit of a low sound (cello) to really fill out the ensemble
Or a viola in there somewhere...you can also ask your local music shops. Many instructors are in a few different bands, and that's how I was able get ours.

me and my fiancee were thinking about hiring a trio of violinists to play at our wedding...and of course, that is not too expensive. any recommendations in the southern california N. orange county/LA area?
