Have you tried any historic sites? I am blanking on ones other than the Frontier Culture Museum (Staunton) that are out that way, but I am sure the Shenandoah Valley has a few :)
Honestly, I think you should just take a drive through western Loudoun County. I live on a country road in Round Hill, VA and there are so many amazing barns and farmers fields. One of my neighbors has the perfect setting with a pond even. It's called Feldspar Farm. I don't know if they would be open to doing a wedding, but as a photographer, I have seen more and more of these country weddings popping up where I live. I've even seen weddings done at country stores and B&B's. Just take a drive!
We are having our reception in a barn in Lovettsville (Loudoun County).
My brother got hitched at Radford, which was catered by their culinary arts department.
It's their "nature conservancy"..I believe it's called Selu?
Here's the very spot they had their ceremony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMaF8-Z4ap8
I got married at Bluemont Vineyard and it's was actually held in a converted Stable. I heard the food was good, didn't actually get to taste much of it. :)
I agree with the PP that suggested taking a drive. There are some beautiful areas all throughout the state. I'm having a rustic outdoor wedding (unforunately without the barn) at my father's farm in southern Virginia. I used to live in Falls Church and whenever I would travel through the state, I was always in love with all the farmland beauty!
Good luck!

Has anyone gotten married in western VA (Roanoke and surrounding area) and had a successful barn or barn-like wedding? I can't find any locations for my sister. I've looked for horse farms, etc. and I can't find a thing!
