Ah!! Honestly I would make the decision when you go and see the diamonds! It is hard to decide because they all look different depending on cut, clarity ect. Congrats! I’m super jealous! I LOVE good old gold! Any ideas what type of setting you want??

My ring is from Good Old Gold! It was such a great experience buying from them..Jonathan is so great he made me feel like a diamond expert when we were finished lol. But PP is right about deciding once you get there. I thought I would LOVE their Star 129 cut but when I saw the diamonds in person I fell for the Hearts and Arrows cut! My ring is .84 carat, color H, SI2 (I have to look at a certain angle to see my diamond’s flaw) and I am so happy with it. I’ve had it almost 2 years and it’s still as sparkly as when I first got it. Good luck!!

Have fun! Did you make an appointment? Make sure to make one so they can set aside time for you, and get ready + pull out items on the side for you to see.

I bought my e-ring stone from GOG and have become friends with Jonathan. He’s fantastic.

FI got my ring from Good Old Gold.  I went in thinking I wanted an AVC, but it turned out it wasn’t for me.  Did end up falling falling for a modern cushion there though!  They were awesome. We didn’t work with Jonathan, but worked with his daughter and I remember we worked with Linda on the setting.  I was super picky about settings and she was great and ordered in samples for me.

@mousiegirl:  Good Old Gold is where I first went looking for rings! I didn’t buy there though. If you’re on a budget have you ever thought about going to 47th street in the city instead? That’s were DH got mine- much more for your money and more ability to negotiate. Just a thought.

@mousiegirl:  Oh also bc of the way cushions are cut they need to be a bigger stone to look as big as a smaller size round stone- so if you want more bang for your buck and for it to look bigger you’re better going with a round stone and in a higher setting. I wanted cushion but it needed to be huge so I went with a round with a cushion shaped halo so the overall impression is of a cushion but it’s really a round.

When I was looking at an AVC cushion I was stalking GOG-their diamonds are beautifulllllllllllllll. I love warm, old cut diamonds-they’re so yummy 🙂 I opted for a round brilliant because I got lazy in my search for the perfect stone but I def have a pangs of regret occasionally, I hope you find what you’re looking for-good luck and congrats!

@mousiegirl:  congrats!!  Funny story, my FI and I were in NYC when he proposed. He didnt have a ring at the time, so for fun the next day we went to some stores in the diamond district. We didn’t have a budget, just a very modest place holder, a simple band would do…. I was offered some of the ugliest rings on the Earth lol. They were just not very pretty and the prices for these things were ridiculous. Im sure there are more reputable jewelers than where we went, but I’m happy we didn’t buy anything there on a whim bc I was didisappointed. Lol anyways, I can’t wait to see your final pick and I know you must be bouncing off the walls!
