Shouldn't he be past the contagious part since he is on medication now? I'm not sure about pnuemonia but with other illnesses, once treatment begins there usually isn't a chance of getting sick from them anymore.
The only precaution I take is I don't set my purse on the floor and I wash my hands after visiting (but that's because hospitals themselves have soooooooooo many germs). I imagine that if he were contagious, the docs wouldn't let people see him so you're probably good.
i just make sure to wash my hands when i leave. i have a chronically ill friend who is frequently in the hospital, and i've never gotten sick after visiting her.
With MRSA in like, every hospital everywhere, I would take basic precautions, because that stuff is really scary. My grandma went into the ER for her blood sugar, and ended up dying from MRSA. In like two days, she went from relativly healthy to dead.

Just out of curiosity, when you visit sick friends/family in the hospital, do you take any special precautions against getting sick? My husband's boss (whom we're good friends with) is in the hospital with pnuemonia. We were thinking of stopping by for quick visit tomorrow, just to let him know we're thinking about him.
