Vistaprint Invitations

posted 3 months ago in Beehive

Has anyone used Vistaprint for their invitations?  I know you can custom design them and just have them print them for you but I'm wondering if anyone has used them and if they were happy with them.

If you did use them, please link to a picture of your invitation.  Thanks!

I have used them for thank you notes and business cards... they turn out decent but I know that on the invites and thank you notes, they imprint their logo on the backside.

Just a word of caution, if you do order from them try to update the shipping to include a tracking option. I had a order with them that was lost for over a month...when it finally arrived there was only a piece of the shipping box with my name and address. It somehow got destroyed in the shipping process.

Ok, first of all, if you upload your own designs on both sides and preview your invitation carefully before placing the order, there WILL NOT be a VistaPrint logo on it.  If there was a logo on someone else's product, it was because he or she didn't read the fine details or didn't preview it correctly.

Secondly, I did my invitations there and I was ok with the quality.  I used 6x9 flat invitations, with the matte finish.  My local Knotties said the linen finish wasn't worth the extra cash, but I never tested it for myself.  I loved the reception card I made, but I also ordered RSVP postcards from them and I wasn't crazy about the quality on those.  The side with the address and stamp was matte, which was fine, but the other side (where people check yes or no) was glossy and hard to write on.  And you can't make them both matte, so I wouldn't recommend using their postcards for this.

You can check out a pic of my invitations here: http://crystalandnick.tumblr.com/post/51993853/recap-reception-details

and if you scroll back through my blog, you can find posts about how I designed them as well.  I really liked how they turned out and they were really cost effective for something that was low priority for me.

Hope that helps!

There is an option to remove the logo from the back of the cards, it will cost you a bit more.  I've used VistaPrint for many years and yes, much of my wedding stuff will come from them.

Take advantage of their rolling free offers by signing up for their newsletter.  I've already gotten two sets of mailing labels (one with a cute bride and groom logo and one with our married names) for free.  We had 100 magnets made to include with the invitations for less than $10 and I got 100 thank-you cards, w. env, made already for $7.50

The print quality is excellent, but remember it's going to come out like a flat printed card.  I will not be using them for my actual invites as I want something more soft and elegant (hand crafted).

There are two things to watch for...

1) The logo will be put on the back of your cards and editing it out may cost a bit more - I didn't care that the logo was on the back of my thank-you cards, the cost was more appealing.  Honestly, it's tiny and in a grey ink so I don't mind.  But it depends on your designs if you feel it's completely okay or not.

2) They only really have 4 sizes of cards.  BUT they call them all different things AND they charge different prices even though all the options are the same.  For Example...(prices are the last time I did my spreadsheet and may have changed since, it's just an example).

5.5 x 4 flat cards

Announcements        70 - $50.00
Invitation                 70 - $29.00
Note Cards             100 - $42.00
Standard Postcard* 100 - Free
Compliment Card    100 - $49.50

* envalopes not included.

I was basing this on my need for about 70 invites - so in the case of my thank-you cards I actually overbought because of their order scales.

I've had a lot of experience with Vista Print, if you'd like some help using their design software please feel free to message me  (and no, I dont' work for VistaPrint, just been a fan for several years).

I hope that helps!

LC or anyone familiar with Vistaprint - Where in the fine print can I choose not to have the Vistaprint logo?  I'd like to upload my own design for save-the-date postcards but don't want to waste me time if I can't remove the logo.  Will this option become available after I upload my design or can I find it somewhere before beginning my upload so I can see the price to remove it?  Thanks!

Just so you know, the trim size for vistaprint printing is ALWAYS smaller than their print size. They do this to save on paper which is why I tend to go with moo.com or with iPrint whenever possible. While you may not notice on postcards, (our STDs will be postcards) you might notice on things like business cards which look small next to a full size one in someone's wallet. Not a good messsage to send to a potantial business assosciate.

I've seen some terrible reviews on yelp about Vistaprint.  Unauthorized charges and poor business practices.  Anyone experience these?

I've used Vistaprint lots of times for custom designed, work related things (posters, brochures, mailers, etc) and have always been pleased with the result. If you're worried about there being a logo, either upload a blank backside or call them- their customer service is great and will help you out with your design. Same goes if you're unsure about the quality of your design (print). ALWAYS google "vista print coupon code" and you'll never pay full price. Most of the time you can also find a code for free shipping. I also used them for our magnets and i'm glad i ordered extra, because there were some that were screwed up. But, we got 200 magnets for $30, so I can't complain. I think I've used them maybe 10-15 times and I've never had a problem with unauthorized charges or bad business practices.

I really recommend calling customer service if you're worried about image quality- they've resized and reworked several of my layouts until they were the correct size and proportions and all that jazz.

That said, I would recommend ordered 10 invites (usually you can find a code so they're free) to check out the quality for yourself. Yes, it's not letterpress or anything fancy, so it might not be what you're looking for!

jacz, regarding the unauthorized charges, you will get them if you sign up for free trial offers (the ones that pop up when you check out of your order) from third party companies.  when my boss ordered business cards from vistaprint, he got these weird charges.  we called vistaprint to cancel these charges, and they referred us to the actual company but also said that they would cancel it for us.  the charges still remain in his cc to this day.

however, when i purchased the business cards for my company under a different account, i made sure to click on "not interested" or "no, thanks" on each free trial offer, and i didn't get any of those "unauthorized" charges.

so when you use vistaprint and are in the checkout process, just make sure that you only check "not interested," "no thanks," etc., and that is the only thing that is checked off.  i think the "yes" fields will be automatically checked.

Thanks browneyes!  I have really been on the fence about ordering from them.

We just got our save-the-date postcards from VistaPrint in the mail yesterday, and I LOVE them!  We opted for the flat notecards with the linen finish.  No problems with mysterious charges (made sure no boxes were checked at checkout, but there sure are a lot of ads!) and no problem with a VistaPrint logo.  The cards & magnets came really quickly, and couldn't beat the prices anywhere!  I can see why people love them on Weddingbee!
