We went with MOO in the end, not VistaPrint. We used photoshop for the image... but that's definitely not the easiest program to use. Are you an Apple user? Maybe you can use iPhoto?
We had a graphic designer make ours for us, but when I opened the file it was in PDF. format and it opened in the Paint application, so maybe you could make them in there? We ordered ours from Vistaprint too and they came out so well!! Good luck!
If all else fails there's always Etsy! You could also try photoshop, like an older version a friend has or a free trial to see if it works for you. Those are my two tips :o) I'm having my MOH design mine and she's waaay better at working the photoshop- these days though a lot of people know their way around that program so maybe enlist the help of a friend?
We used Vistaprint & I loved it. But we used one of their pre-made designs. I don't think it was a wedding design.
@Dancy- I haven't even really looked through their pre-made designs because I was so set on making my own! lol. Do you happen to have an example of yours? :)
I used uprinting.com, not vistaprint, but to create the design for my STD I just used Microsoft Publisher (it came standard on my computer at work). Super easy!
I used Vistaprint and was very happy (especially with the free 100 postcard coupons they always send out!). My sister edited our picture with Photoshop- do you have a friend who is photoshop-smart? Good luck!
I used VistaPrint and one of their premade designs. For some of the other drafts I made, I just fooled around with random programs on my Mac. But needless to say they looked quite amateur.
We used Vista Print for my duaghter's STD magnets and I think I did it in Power Point and then saved it as a jpeg and then uploaded it onto the vistaprint site. One trick I did learn was once I uploaded it, I called their toll free number and had the rep look at what I submitted to make sure it was right, and sure enough the size was wrong and they fixed it instantly for me for free while I was on the phone. You can't beat their prices. There are always a free something or another on their site.
We created ours originally using Wordle. But FI didn't like the colors/exact layout. So, we took the Wordle pdf and re-did it in Illustrator. Of course, we took the extreme of actually enrolling in community college so we could take an introductory photoshop class and an introductory CS4 class AND get the software for $300! Ok, by the time I paid for the tuition, it was almost as much as paying retail for the software, but we got As in our classes.
BTW, we were really happy with the VistaPrint postcards!
Has anyone used Powerpoint to create their designs? I managed to come up with a design in there but have no idea how I would make it postcard size. For example, how would I make our picture take up the entire postcard background rather than having blank space?
Thanks ladies for all the different options!
Meh...while I hate to lose the semi-anonymity I have - here's our STD's. They're very plain.
We didn't add that it was for our wedding or "formal invitation to follow" cuz honestly, people already know that. I added a picture of us & changed the font & layout a bit, but that's about it. Easy-peasy. We did add the website (which I was totally against BTW, that's why it's password protected). Plain, simple, to the point & if ya' wanna know more -- check out the site.
Just an FYI - if you do use Vistaprint…don't pay for the quicker shipping. We paid extra to get it within 2 weeks (so we could have it before Christmas) and it came in about 4 days anyway. I also ordered rtn add stamps from them. I think I got 280 for like 8 bucks. Great for the STD's and thank you's or whatever later on. I'll def. continue to use them after the wedding.
*crickets chirping*
Wow -no comments - it's that bad?!? LOL Whatever, they already went out. I toldja they were plain.
I guess everyone should def. stick with designing their own. Yet more proof that I suck at even minimal DIY! HAH! Wishing you better luck.
I made my STDs in word, and then converted them to a photo image and printed them on snapfish. 100 cost me under $12!
you can check them out here on my blog: http://mspinot.wordpress.com/
@Dancy- You are too funny your's look great and the picture of the two of you is cute!
We used vistaprint and the FI worked on the photos in photoshop and then we just uploaded the image to the website. It was really easy to do. On the backside I found on the vistasite a vintage poststamp that I used and then used their site to type in the text etc on the reverse side.
I am not so tech savvy and made ours from our first go round with the wedding and they turned out great.
We used Vistaprint - we just used their layouts and made a sort of photo montage. It worked out well I thought.

Those of you that used VistaPrint postcards to make your save the dates, what program did you create your design in? I'm not very tech-savvy and am having a lot of trouble making them look decent!
